I did not stay there, so I am reviewing only the museum part. Our parents were big fans of the TV show, so we thought it could be cool to visit it. It's nice indeed and I can imagine that people who enjoyed that show would really like that place, as it is very nicely taken care of, clean and like in the TV show.
I did a tour of the ranch & it was awesome! As a big fan of the show I absolutely loved it! My tour guide and everyone working there did an awesome job. I got lots of information about the show & the house is absolutely gorgeous. For me it was well worth the price of the ticket.
Dan at Southfork Ranch is extremely knowledgeable. Please ask for Dan. I stayed for the full tour, other tourists chose to leave early, I think originally we were 12 total. Not sure why anyone would leave the tour early. As a result, I got a private tour! I grew watching Dallas. Please make sure to ask for Dan. I learned a lot of facts; I learned the fact that some people believed everything on TV was true just like our modern day internet causing some people to believe everything on the internet is true. 😂 Dan proceeded to tell me since it showed oil machine on property on TV, there must be oil. Someone bought the land to search for oil. This person believed since it’s on TV, it’s true! The investor never asked any questions, the money was just handed over. Of course, most of us know better and wouldn’t have invested 3 million in land purchase and search for oil solely because it showed it on TV. Remember the Beverly Hillbillies ? I wonder if anyone else invested in Beverly Hillibilly land in search for oil? 😂
This is a really interesting place to review… On one hand the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, the land is well kept. Nature and animals on the property are beautiful. On the other hand, I felt that I was touring my grandmas house listening to stories that don’t make any sense. In fairness to them, I’ve never seen the show Dallas. Also, price is a bit high for the tour especially if you get a 4pm ticket and are unable to walk the property.
My brother was in town for a visit. Went for the tour. What a great experience. Everyone we encountered went beyond expectations to accommodate us! The sweet girl in the gift shop offered us a wheelchair upon noticing that the walk might be too difficult for my brother. Danny the gentleman who drove the golf cart was incredible! He already dropped off for the tour but insisted on making another trip for us and the wheelchair! He was so friendly and came to pick us up too! Thank you all for making this so enjoyable!
