There are quite a few kinds of key chains, souvenirs, and hats but I don’t see berets here just normal hats and caps.
My daughter was checking out some toys in this store when the lady at the counter asked, “How can I help?” I said, “We’re good, just having a look.” To my surprise, she snapped back, “Oh, just look, don’t touch!” How are you meant to decide on something without picking it up? Such rude service, especially with a kid right there. Wouldn’t go back!
I just took my son shopping, and the elderly female shop owner was chatting and laughing happily with the locals. However, when it was my turn to check out, she looked at me with a cold, emotionless gaze and didn’t even greet me, as if I owed her money? Is this racism? I hope not. It’s just that the difference in attitude is so stark, it’s really disappointing. Normally, after spending so much, I would take some small gift bags to give to my friends, but she said those cost extra money. Her attitude was very blunt and unfriendly. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this store. The owner’s attitude really ruined my mood. I almost wanted to return everything I bought!
Please I urge you not to support this business. I am still thinking about my negative experience shopping here more than 24 hours later. If I could give no stars I would. I was came here to find a souvenir for our trip away with my toddler in Broadbeach and I really like supporting local shops rather than big chains. There was a large range of children’s items and I thought that this would mean that the staff were family friendly and I wanted to support them. I got to the counter and after buying and paying for some items I was very rudely told off about my daughter apparently breaking sunglasses while in the store. While trying to understand what the shop assistant was referring to as I wasn’t sure what she meant, I finally realised she meant that she saw me fiddling with a pair of glasses and putting them back together. What had actually happened was that I had found a broken pair of sunglasses in the store and just went into automatic mum mode and picked them up, put them together and placed them back. It was just instinct as I am used to picking up after people I really didn’t think about it. I was sleep deprived as my baby was up all night. The way I was spoken to made me just burst into tears. When the assistant finally realised that it was just a pair I had found, she yelled at me for not bringing them to her.. honestly it was just an instinct to pick them up and I don’t even work there so why do I have to do that. I get it’s a nice thing if I’d done that but I hadn’t slept and wasn’t thinking. I cannot believe another person wouldn’t just ask me what had happened and speak like that to a tired mum doing her best. Honestly I cried for a long time after this due to the way I was spoken to and my last day in Broadbeach was completely ruined. My husband had to take my daughter to the pool while I sat upset in our hotel room crying. Please I urge anyone reading to not support this business as it is clear from the other reviews the staff here have ruined a lot of peoples days. I only wish I had read these reviews earlier and maybe I wouldn’t have this awful memory of my last day in Broadbeach.
I visited your shop this morning and have never felt so bad for the two staff members behind the counter. The lady that was so rude and the man with her was so aggressive my heart sank for you. I could see you were trying to hold it together. I brought my daughters 2 beach towels and key rings which they adore. I don’t normally post reviews but felt I had too. After what I witnessed I wanted you to know how much I appreciate the the time you took with my kids who couldn’t decide what they wanted. The two ladies were lovely and so helpful when my children were changing there minds 50 times I will definitely be returning when back in Broadbeach.
