As a New Yorker born and raised, I totally understand that getting pizza by the slice will Be thin and once it’s reheated, it has a nice little crisp underneath. I feel confident the original Spinelli‘s from Philly is done the same way when you order a pizza by the slice. I was absolutely appalled when I seen with my own two eyes that they would reheat a pizza on top of paper plates for about a minute and then serve it to a customer. Leaving a warm completely soggy pizza. It’s sad to know that locals that don’t know any better would think this could potentially be the best. But I can tell you that I feel like Spinelli would be rolling over in his grave if he knew people today were not truly getting the experience they deserved and enjoying a properly reheated slice of pizza that should be placed directly inside of the oven without a plate underneath to get that nice little crisp underneath the pizza slice. If you have to ask to crisp it, you definitely do not know the proper way to enjoy a NYC slice of pizza. The staff was completely friendly and deserved props but it seems like a little retraining would complete the proper experience of a slice of pizza at a pizzeria.
