I would give 10 stars if I could for the way Elissa expertly got me through my foot injury and severe edema this past year. I'd suffered torn tendons in my left foot and ankle during a 10K race, and then I foolishly stayed off of it way too long without compression. By the time I finally found a great podiatrist (after seeing an initial one who kept me off the foot even longer without compression), I still couldn't walk on it and my foot was the size of a loaf of bread. The amazing podiatrist got the worst of the edema down within a few days with a special boot. But my road to healing had only just begun. I had no idea how dangerous edema could be or of the extent of the damage it caused -- far beyond the initial injury. The swelling kept returning, and I could not walk normally let alone run again anytime soon. The amazing podiatrist referred me to the equally amazing Elissa. Right away I was struck by her expertise. Her deep knowledge of all things human physiology -- matched with her calm presence -- made me feel that I was in great hands. And I was. Over the next several months, I saw Elissa every week. And thanks to her targeted combination of exercises, stretches and cutting-edge gadgets (along with her great humor), the swelling went away, the foot healed, and she helped me become even stronger in my distance running than I was before the injury. What's more, she left me with tools to help prevent another injury in the future. I can't thank Elissa enough for all she did for me!
Finding St. Pete Physio was the best thing that could have happened to me! After I had badly re-injured my left shoulder (original injury was treated ten years ago from five years taking care of a quadriplegic wheelchair-bound husband) and it wasn’t healing properly even after receiving medication, body and chiropractic work, my primary care physician recommended that I get a course of physical therapy. Following his advice and direction, I chose Dr. Elissa Deusner’s company, that of St. Pete Physio. Not only did she thoroughly evaluate my injury upon her first appointment providing me with a detailed six page report, she set up a schedule of hour long weekly visits for me and since I was unable to drive at the time, she came to my home. She helped me use my own home areas and pool to set up the homework lessons for me. Explaining the reasons behind why we do various movements, workouts and the body’s anatomy, set her apart and far above any of the many physical therapists whom I have had in the past. Elissa makes the session’s time fly by with her well-planned and personally fine-tuned exercise regimen and delightful sense of humor that you almost forget your pain. Well, almost. She is a top notch therapist whom I highly recommend evaluate you for your injury. Don’t hesitate to give her a call and see if she can help you as she did me! L K Waters, St Petersburg
I have been in some form of physical therapy for several years, but clearly the time I have spent as a patient of Elissa's has been the most beneficial for my body and frankly my mind. I am not a normal patient, I have had 4 knee replacements and other surgeries and chronic pain. She has basically rebuilt my body from scratch, and made me stronger than I have ever been, and made me a better person all around. She has an intricate knowledge of the muscles, tendons and anatomy that I have not experienced in other physical therapists. For example when I experienced my tendons ( or ligaments catching on the replacement "knee cap" she knew exactly what it was and how to build up muscaluture etc so it stopped happening. Gee, the doctor never told me about that and I mentioned how uncomfortable that was when it happened. Also, frankly she pushes me to do more and because of that I can live a normal life, I am stronger. She will formulate exercises EXACTLY for YOUR body's needs, and make you stronger and she will give you of herself, the hope and encouragement and the strong body you need to accomplish things you want to do in your life.
GAME CHANGER! Most doctors are technically competent at their profession OR have a good "bedside manner": Dr Deusner has both! I have never seen so much improvement so quickly over many years of PT and she is fun at the same time. 💪 Can I do a 6 star rating, google?
I received a dry needling treatment at St. Pete Physio. As a runner I often have tight hamstrings, but this was my first treatment of this type. The results were excellent. My legs felt so much looser and flexible. Dr. Deusner is professional and very accommodating. I will return for further treatment.
