I attended the pride festival at Steve Radack Community Center back in June. I thought the facility was excellent for such small event. I got a chance to see the largest room, which could hold over 200 people. I want to host an event here. But the requirement is only 45 days out. So unfortunate.
I was invited. Everyone brought a dish but the smells combined was overwhelming. Many rooms for various groups to meet.
🤮 Poor management by the center manager, Celeste, and her upper manager Shawn Peeples. As other reviewers have said, there are many shoddy biases in decision making there that limit full engagement from the community. They often don't do what they say nor say what they do. And are even willing to jeopardize family safety at the expense of effective conflict resolution and proper planning execution. The center manager, Celeste does manipulative tactics, does not listen, repeatedly puts words in people's mouths even after being repeatedly corrected, wastes time, and does not clearly nor directly communicates. The instructor there Ms. Bas was quite rude, curt, uncaring, neglectful, irritable, callous, illogical in her rules to the point of appearing as a control freak and more. The Harris county leadership team of Leslie Briones was informed of these tactics and experiences and they basically did nothing to rectify the resulting poor experience. The upper manager Shawn never returned a phone call about concerns. This commissioner's management team is like lipstick on a pig. Things may look pleasant on the outside, but the decision making, management, culture, moral turpitude, and leadership are deteriorating. We need a new commissioner and new management.
They have many great classes here. My only complaint is that the air conditioning isn't working properly or they refuse to cool the building to a tolerable level. They have fans but not enough of them. Even with a fan, the humidity is too high to be of any help when exercising. It's been really noticeable this past week.
I enjoyed the Senior Xmas Ball on 12/6/2024 given at Radack. Everyone was well dressed, laughing, dancing and making new friends. The food was amazing & plentiful. The music was great and it went from Latin to blues, soul, country, salsa, ballroom and spanned from the 30’s to current. Can’t wait for next year! PS: The staff decorated like the professionals they are. They bent over to make you fill like “family”! All our needs were met. From assisting with meals, deserts, drinks to helping you sit. They are “the best hosts & hostesses in Harris County.”
