The facilities here need love, they don't rake or drag the arena. Its extremely dusty in the wind and they don't water it. There is also many hard spots that will likely injure your horse or you when they slide going around a corner. If you want to be treated like a toddler bring your horse here. Just remember not to park or stop in the wrong area, even if you are not disrupting anything or trying to avoid the lake that shows up in the parking lot every time it rains.
We rode for almost 2 years there for private lesson. They switched my son's time today and put him in in group lesson and did not inform me I went for a quick shopping and only find out at the end. I inquired the manager Arien and she told me that they can switch you to group class anytime and if I don't like it I can go to another school. It was very unprofessional and rude.
The best place to take lessons as a beginner. The staff is so sweet and patient. I truly love taking lessons here. I would recommend this place to everyone that would like to try horseback riding!
After a short email requesting info on their lesson structure and cost ,and briefly describing my situation and riding experience, I received a one line response saying they have a wait list for lessons. No information, no other even nice comments like, "We would love you to come take lessons with us, but we are running a 6 month lesson waitlist. If you would like to be added we would gladly do this." No......Here is their response. "We do have knowledge of natural horsemanship however, we also have a waiting list for our lesson program currently." This makes me feel they could care less about having my business and about me. I have trained at far too many establishments over the years where they care and respect the horses more than they do the people. I love horses too, but if I ran a riding school, it would be about helping people connect to horses and enjoy horses, and respecting both. Also I must say their reluctance to give any prices for anything on their website or in this email response makes me wonder. Are prices variable? do you make them up on the day? What is the deal. Bear in mind this is my only contact with this company and certainly does not tell the whole story. They could be a terrific group that is knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I will never know. I am moving on to somewhere else, where even a rejection is done with courtesy and thoughtfulness.
I have been at Sugar Land Stables for over a year now, and I love it! Very friendly group of boarders (very diverse as far as horse breeds and disciplines) and low drama. Safe facilities. Janet is a great barn manager/vet tech- very knowledgeable and helpful, and goes above and beyond for the horses. There is a vet clinic at the front of the property, and we get discounted vaccinations and no call fees! Covered arena and covered round pen ensure we can ride no matter the weather. The barn has hosted great shows as well as clinics with upper level trainers in many disciplines, with plans for more. English and Western lessons available. Love the choice to do partial board or full care board! Would highly recommend for board for anyone, no matter your discipline. Roomy 12x12 stalls, and several that are 12x24!
