I love meeting with other seniors at Sunnyside park however the manager there-Eric—behaved and speaks to us as if the Park Management team does not want us there—it’s very disheartening and really rude sometimes….
I have been working on a house across the street from this beautiful park for about 2 weeks now and let me say this, this is what a community should be. One day I saw a lady with her two beautiful daughters setting up tables with catering equipment with the sole purpose of randomly feeding people who might be hungry. Another night, a preacher was down at the basketball courts with a microphone calling out kids by name, teasing with them, and egging on a friendly game of basketball. Another night a DJ was in the park(not sure if he was broadcasting live)playing music and interacting with the neighborhood kids, as well as the adults. This sense of "community" is something I have never seen, or experienced, in my life. Every night there was something going on where the parents were involved with their children's lives! Pay attention white folks because this is how life is supposed be, and it certainly wasn't anything I have ever known. Hat's off to the mothers and fathers of the Sunnyside neighborhood there is alot that the rest of us could, and should, learn from you, and your commitment to your community! Ryan Parkinson
Very little has been done towards the upkeep of this park that I know of since the 90s. The grass is never well kept. I viewed birds flying around in the conference rooms during meetings. The roof leaks. Some thefts have taken place around the facility as well as vehicle break-ins due to a lack of security. Somehow I'm not understanding how all these years, no funding is input into this large beautiful Park area and money has been allocated over the years. Where did the money go? where was it spent? Why hasn't this park been completely renovated and groomed
Love working out with the seniors every Tuesday and Thursday morning. If you are a senior and have nothing to do on those days, make sure you come out. It is sooooo fun! Keep in mind im 38 and love working out with them!!! Come join us...
This park has Not changed. Crack heads still roaming the park begging for change. Do not be here after dark you will get robbed! The fact that the police substation is on the corner makes No sense that they are doing this. It is a very nice park.
