SushiSamba, Edinburgh - A Missed Opportunity in a Stunning Setting Fresh from an exceptional dining experience at SushiSamba in Dubai’s St. Regis Hotel a week ago, I arrived at the Edinburgh outlet with the same anticipation of artistry, vibrancy, and seamless service. Unfortunately, the evening unfolded in a markedly different tone. To its credit, the restaurant enjoys an enviable view, and our window seat offered a gorgeous tableau of the city - a promising start. Yet the promise ends there. Where Dubai’s service is polished, attentive, and almost instinctual, the Edinburgh location struggles to maintain even the basics of hospitality. Empty plates lingered on the table long after each course, obstructing the arrival of the next. Catching a server’s attention became an unintended exercise in patience, as staff seemed more preoccupied with their own movements than with the guests in front of them. Even something as simple as topping up drinking water proved slower than expected. While our primary server was friendly and tried her best, the warmth did not extend to the rest of the team; smiles were scarce, and engagement felt perfunctory. The food, undeniably beautiful in presentation, lacked the depth and excitement that the brand is known for. Whether it was a matter of the dishes themselves or the cumulative effect of lacklustre service and ambience, the overall experience felt disappointingly average. At a price point that confidently positions itself above the norm, one expects culinary brilliance and memorable dining - neither of which materialised. SushiSamba Edinburgh has all the elements needed to deliver an outstanding experience: a celebrated global brand, a visually stunning setting, and a menu designed to impress. Yet on this occasion, it fell short on the fundamentals. And for that reason, it’s not a venue I would return to.

The breathtaking scenery adds a special touch to the meal, making it perfect for both casual outings and special occasions. The food is delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, showcasing a great fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences. The service is also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Overall, a fantastic place to enjoy amazing food with an incredible view. Highly recommended!

This was booked this as a birthday treat for myself and we were not disappointed. From the welcome, through being seated and the introductions from our server, it was all flawless. We had terrific seats, with an amazing view, and we opted for the Taste of Samba Premium option. Every single course was unbelievable, so fresh, vibrant, flavoursome and I am very grateful for the additional little birthday treat at the end of the meal. There was no wait for any of the courses, it just kept coming and was just wave after wave of incredible food expertly prepared. The staff without exception were a credit and really made us feel so welcome, relaxed and this only enhanced our experience as we were free to enjoy the meal without any distractions, it was flawless. Worth every penny. Thank you so much for making my special celebration meal such a great occasion. Little touches by your team make huge differences to a customers experience. We loved it and can't wait to come back. Thanks!
