I’ve been a fan of SusieCakes since day one—literally. I actually have the distinction of writing the very first Yelp review for their Brentwood/LA location when it opened back in 2006, which feels like a lifetime ago now. Back then (and still today), I would devour slices of their red velvet cake like there was no tomorrow. All their cakes and cupcakes have the perfect amount of light sweetness and it’s been amazing to watch SusieCakes grow over the years. That original magic of feeling like you’re eating a homemade cake your grandmother made you is what keeps me coming back. The chocolate cake is my husband’s favorite (tastes like REAL dark chocolate, not processed, overly-sweet chocolate) and my dad’s favorite is the vanilla. I gotta stand by my OG love for the red velvet. Some things really do stand the test of time. So glad this location in my hometown of San Jose exists today. Anyone who has anything negative to say about Susiecakes probably thinks Hostess cupcakes and Twinkies are good.

Large & small multi-layer cakes, or by the slice, and reg and mini cup cakes. Unique and superior delicious. Favorites: old school carrot cake with walnuts and raisins, and coconut with pineapple. You will not be disappointed.

The two women who helped me on Thursday 3/6 were so kind and helpful. I made a mistake on my order (ordered mini sized instead of full) and the staff helped me to get the right ones. Really wonderful experience here and I would come back for the cupcakes and the service! Note to others, do don’t leave to store if you need to make a swap!
