I’m from NZ but was in Melbourne recently and visited Swensk. Best retail experience I have ever had. Jane was very helpful with sizing and recommending items. After I got back I ended up ordering a sweater to NZ and it was delivered within one day. I will shop with these guys again for sure

I was introduced to Swensk about 15 years ago and haven’t looked back. I love clothes but don’t particularly like shopping. Mats, Jane and Jenn know what works, they now know what I’ve got in my wardrobe (mostly from Swensk) and go above and beyond to help me pull it together. Through them, I’ve discovered slow, classic fashion which aligns with my aesthetic (and, hey, also values). And that means that, even if you feel the price is at a premium (and it’s not really), you’re getting much better value than shopping down. You won’t find much in my ‘robe that isn’t from Swensk. Go there. Look good.

I won’t lie: I love clothes. I travelled to Scandinavia a few years ago and got involved in the slow fashion phenomenon. I thought you couldn’t get a lot of Swedish brands like Filippa K in Australia until I saw an article in the Age about Svensk. I bought a suit there recently and the proprietor, Hake I think, went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with my purchase. I think he made sure I tried on every pair of trousers in the store! It’s expensive, but the clothes are worth it. Yes, you can go to Uniqlo or H&M and buy as many cheap clothes as you like, but do the planet a favour and buy fewer, better clothes. Svensk is the place to start!

I used to hate shopping for clothes until I found Swensk. It is a brilliant shop with a very tastefully curated selection of Swedish brands. There is a restrained but consistent aesthetic which I really enjoy. The owners, Jane and Mats, are exemplary retailers - friendly and empathetic, never obsequious, with a great eye for what will work. I recommend Swensk to anyone interested in dressing well and having a completely enjoyable shopping experience.
