If given the opportunity to time-travel, I would not choose this law firm to represent my case. In May 2022, I was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in New Mexico highway, involving three vehicles: myself, a pickup truck, and a commercial truck. The commercial truck negligent failed to apply its brakes, resulting in a collision. Consequently, I sustained life-injuries to most of my body, particularly affecting my right side. I conducted an online search to identify the most reputable attorneys and selected Tawney Flores Acosta based on highly favorable reviews. I placed my trust in Marrisa Porras due to her approachable and professional demeanor during the initial consultation. Subsequently, I was informed that my case was transferred to Daisy Chaparro. Throughout the first two years following the incident and the signing of a contract with them, I made numerous inquiries to monitor the progress of my case. However, Daisy was consistently unavailable. I frequently received messages from various case managers explaining that she was occupied with family emergencies or that she was unavailable due to recent childbirth. My emotional distress reached a peak as I observed no initial work in my case for 2 years. During that time, I ultimately lost my 13-year employment due to physical restrictions, Medicaid benefits, and eligibility to participate in sports, and was severely restricted from applying for a new job due to physical/mental condition. I became distressed by the situation and made a call during which Daisy shouted, "You owe me," a phrase that psychologically impacted me deeply, especially after I became unemployed and was emotionally distressed by the necessity to manage bills and payments related to my disability. As I approached the three-year mark of my case, she advised me to seek alternative legal representation, stating I was disrespectful (sorry, Daisy, but I was in emotional distress stemming from the prolonged stagnation of my case for nearly three years). I inquired whether my case could be transferred to a colleague within the same law firm; however, she declined. I diligently sought to engage another law firm; however, regrettably, no firm was willing to accept my case due to the duration exceeding nearly three years. I persisted in communication with Daisy, and she continued to manage my case and initiated a demand, informing me that the semi-truck refused to pay for damages or was willing to pay less than 1%. I requested formal documentation of that statement, but never received it. All information was based solely on her verbal account. By the conclusion of the third year, the settlement was finalized. I granted 20% out of 100% of the settlement, deducting half for their law firm, resulting in a net of 10%. I inquired multiple times whether it was possible to receive a greater portion; however, I was consistently told no. Although they asked me if I approved the settlement, I was assured that there was nothing further to do. The error lies in the fact that I was notified of the settlement before being informed of such deductions. The memories of the accident continue to affect me profoundly, and obtaining only 10% is insufficient for the years of my ongoing self-care and responsibilities within my household. My intention is not to persuade, but merely to share my story. I do not wish similar experiences upon others. Even if the settlement remains unchanged, the mental distress encountered was unforeseen, particularly due to Daisy's inconsistent communication for the first two years. Although Daisy began communicating effectively in the final months of the case, I felt it was too late, especially considering that the results of their efforts did not meet expectations. Therefore, I hold no negative opinions regarding her team, including Lizbeth and Brenda; they communicated effectively and played an integral role in the work process.
Early last year, my wife and I were involved in an auto accident that totaled our car and injured both of us. From what our doctors were saying about our physical conditions that it was going to take a long time for us to heal. I had some sick leave, but it wasn't going to be enough to help pay for medical expenses and rehabilitation. My wife had to stay at a rehabilitation center because her leg was badly damaged to the point where she had to learn how to walk again. A good friend of ours from church made the recommendation for us to hire a lawyer to help us. He recommended Daisy Chaparro from Tawney, Acosta and Chaparro P.C. Shortly after contacting Daisy, she came by the rehabilitation center to visit with my wife and me. She reassured us that our primary job was to concentrate on getting better. She and her office would help us through the insurance claims and legal matters. Anytime we had a question throughout the process, Daisy and her staff would contact us within a few hours or the next day in order to keep us posted as to the progress of our case. Both my wife and I would heartily recommend Daisy Chaparro and her team to help anyone that has been involved in a serious automobile accident. Gerald "Gerry" S. Dobbs
I would highly recommend Tawny, Acosta & Chaparro law firm. After some initial hiccups, my case was assigned to attorney Odalys Rodriguez. Mrs. Rodriguez kept me informed, was always professional and went above and beyond to resolve my case. Mrs. Rodriguez truly seems to care about her clients, and she is a great asset to this law firm. If you ever have the need for a lawyer, make sure you call Tawny, Acosta & Chaparro, you should request Mrs. Rodriguez to be your attorney.
