Giving 3 stars. Place had a lot of items. The staff guy i spoke to was polite. Cant give 5 stars due to the unrealistic pricing. I got a tip from a pawn dealer that this place had a ton of silver. I know why now. A lot of their silver was graded which of course sells for a lot more than spot silver. (Good for a Numistic collector). Then their "junk" silver was where things went sideways. I asked what they sell silver for and they said basically spot. Normally a good deal. But selling circulated Morgan's and Peace dollars at spot as if it is a Troy OZ isn't realistic. A morgan or Peace dollar is .77433 Troy oz of silver. So price of Morgan at 92.00 spot should be 92×.7743 = 71.00. And Morgan's and Peace dollars do typically warrant a small premium above spot. So 75.00 to 85.00 should be the range. But they wanted 92.00. When I asked what they sell a silver round for (which is .9999 silver a full 1 Troy Oz) they said same price. That would be a good deal but they were sold out of rounds due to that is a good deal. But junk silver (90% silver) and only .77433 Troy OZ as a silver investor they are too high. The gentlemen i talked to when I reminded him junk silver is 90% silver he eventually said he would take 90% of 92 which was 83 and change. On the high end of the range, but when he talked to owner, the owner said 92.00. The part that frustrated me the most is they claimed they sell silver at basically spot. 92.00 for junk silver is not spot. 92.00 for a silver round would be spot. So they are a little misleading. And owner is all about getting above top dollar instead of making a decent deal.
Wow, what an amazing collection of items. Highly recommend this shop
the collection of antiques in this shop is astonishing and rich, a must see for everybody visiting anchorage. I loved every single person working there and how helpful and polite they were to me and every other customer. the shop has a very homey feeling. special thank you to walter for helping me get my dream bag and for always bringing cookies to the workers next door:)
I was in Anchorage less than 24 hours and wandered by this delightful shop with great vintage and collectable art and jewelry and more. I purchased this small sculpture of the wind and it is perfect between my Hopi bowls. Thanks for a warm reception and patience.
The people here and the owner are so nice! I spent a lot of time here because I’m interested in art and ancient things. They talk to me and explain a lot of details and history even if I didn't buy anything. I’m so impressed. They have brochure knowledge too. They are real collectors who have many stuff to show. If you like to take a photo, you can do it here. It's fine.
