My son has had a great experience at TDC over the past ~4 years. He has learnt a lot during this time, including finding the right class for him. Pros: - The administration staff are lovely and supportive, great at communication. - Class times are convenient. - Teachers are fantastic. - Concerts are super well run - none of those crazy commitments you hear about with some dance schools. The costume hire and structure of the dress rehearsal are super convenient and good for the environment (no sewing thank you very much!). This coming from a person who has never been involved in dance classes before. Cons: none!
Today was the final class for the year at The Dance Collective, following last week’s concert—which was beyond amazing. You could see how much care, intention, and effort went into it, though that came as no surprise. For the final class, the younger students were invited to bring a plate of food to share while they reflected on concert highlights, danced, and played games together. While waiting for my 8-year-old to finish, I watched the next class of older girls arrive. They greeted one another warmly, encouraged and uplifted each other, laughed together—and when another student walked in, they were instantly welcomed. I remember thinking, wow… this is a big group of girls, and every single one of them feels seen and supported. When my daughter’s class finished, I watched the younger girls walk past the older students—some of them running up to them to give hugs, which were returned with genuine warmth and smiles. It was such a special moment, and one I get to witness every time we’re at TDC. Then my daughter walked out holding a piece of paper with her name written boldly in the centre, surrounded by kind messages from her classmates. Each child had one. That was the moment it truly landed for me: The Dance Collective is unlike any other studio because it is deeply intentional—about connection, about belonging, about building every child up. This is not just a place that produces impressive dancers (though it absolutely does, with incredibly talented teachers and strong dance backgrounds). It is a studio that represents something bigger. Both my 8-year-old and 4-year-old attend, and I know this is a space where they are not only learning to dance, but growing into kind, thoughtful, caring humans. This culture is a reflection of Charisse and Andrea—their hearts poured into the studio and carried through every teacher. It’s no surprise. I had Charisse as my own dance teacher, and her passion for people isn’t just seen—it’s felt, and it stays with you for years.
I can’t put into words how much TDC has given my girls. They’ve grown up there, learning so much more through dance than I could have ever imagined. The company’s values are incredible, and the expectation that every dancer embraces them makes such a difference. Each year, my girls’ dancing improves, and their confidence grows right alongside it. Everyone who works at TDC truly lives by these values, which shows in everything they do. The focus on performance and discipline is just as important, and it’s taught in such a supportive way. TDC is a special place, and it has had a lasting impact on our whole family.
Charisse and the Dance Collective team turned our wild idea on paper into a magical performance for our Variety Step into Spring Ball guests. The performance was fantastic, and the team was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We look forward to working with them again!
The dance collective is my second home, all the staff and the dancers are amazing and make me feel so safe and welcome. They care about our health, both physically and mentally, aswell as our talent and happiness there. I’ve been dancing here since 2019 and I’ve never had a problem with it. Love ❤️
