The food is amazing as always. The service however is no super great. It took 20 minutes for us to even get out iced teas, not even cocktails. Then it took over an hour to get our food. The server before seating said it could take up to 30 minutes to get food. We waited well over that. Not once did the server come to the table and apologize for the wait, not once did we get offered anything to hold us over not even water. I love the food here but the servers need to be trained more on hospitality. There were four of them working, the place wasn't full.

Delicious food every single time, the servers are so sweet as well! I would recommend getting to anyone looking for Salvadoran or Mexican style food in KW, no one does it better. 5/5!!

A fantastic find! The food was incredibly authentic and made fresh to order. Their menu strikes a perfect balance, offering traditional Latin American dishes for the adventurous eater alongside more familiar North American-style options. I highly recommend the combo platter—it’s the best way to sample a variety of authentic flavors in one sitting. The service was friendly and prompt, and despite being a busy Saturday, they honored our reservation for five and never made us feel rushed. It was the perfect atmosphere to catch up with friends. 10/10—I'll definitely be recommending this spot to everyone!"

Authentic Salvadoran Flavours That Keep Me Coming Back The Guanaquita in Kitchener is an absolute gem for authentic Salvadoran cuisine. The food is phenomenal …rich flavours, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels home-cooked in the best possible way, and it’s absolutely worth every penny. The restaurant itself is quaint and modestly decorated. It can feel a bit drab and could definitely use a facelift, but honestly, the food more than makes up for it. This is one of those places where you come for the flavours, not the décor. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. Prices are a little higher than your typical pub meal, but the quality and authenticity justify it completely. If you’re craving real Salvadoran food or want to try something new, Guanaquita is a must-visit. I’ll keep going back for the taste alone.

I’ve been here so much that I can’t keep track. The staff is so friendly and it’s nice to customize your plate to your liking (though as you can see I usually get the guanaquita platter 😋). Highly recommend! Top contenders: - Steak Sav. enchilada - Meat/bean/cheese pupusa (My friends love the birria tacos) - Sweet corn tamale - Margharitas
