My mom and I visited this location tonight for her birthday. We took a trip from 2 hours away and were excited to finish our night at our favourite restaurant. To start off we got 2 appetizers, they were great thankfully because our waitress didn’t bother to do a quality check at all and left every dish on the table until our mains got there. Then things took a turn. We both got the 12oz Newyork striploin with the twice baked potato. After our literal first bite our server “Kate W” checked on us, we said things were good but then again it was our very first bite of food. As we continued eating my mom and I noticed something was very off with our steaks. The consistency of the meat was of that of an eraser, and it didn’t taste like beef.. let alone meat at all to be honest. At first I thought it tasted somewhat like a hot dog but the more we ate the worse it seemed to get. Additionally, the bacon bits in my potato seemed raw, they were extremely rubbery and bouncy. I probably ate a third of my steak, didn’t touch my potato at all, and my mom ate a few bites of her steak max. The waitress walked past us several times without checking on us.. when she finally did we told her something was off with the meat. I told her it tasted weird, almost like hotdog or something to which she replied “wow that’s fascinating”. Nothing fascinating about my $75 meal tasting like I got it from a food truck but anyways. She then took our plates away and slammed a desert menu in front of us. Since we essentially had no dinner it was safe to say we weren’t up for dessert. When she returned she so graciously let us know that the manager had agreed to remove our drinks off the menu, which was rich since neither of us drink alcohol so we got a whopping $4.50 discount. To say that this experience was a disappointment would be an astronomical understatement. My mom and I are both servers and understand that there is only so much that is in a servers control however, the way things were dealt with was beyond unsatisfactory service. The manager didn’t even bother coming to speak to us. Our server was extremely condescending and untimely we left hungry and out $75 each. We’ve had many many positive experiences at the Keg however this was certainly not one of them. I would suggest the keg to anyone, but definitely not this location.
It was a good experience at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar in the ByWard Market. We started with the baked Brie, which was absolutely delicious. The service throughout the night was very attentive; the staff checked in often without being intrusive. For the main meal, I went with the Keg Platter, featuring filet mignon, top sirloin, and New York striploin. It was tender and juicy but it did not honestly live up to my expectation. Overall, it was a good dinning experience with the super attentive service.
The Keg is always a great experience. The quality of foods along with the wide range of options make it a go-to spot. Great staff, very friendly and accommodating. The manager is awesome, very professional and makes sure you're satisfied 👍🔥 Can't wait to be back.
Great place to hangout and found this place was packed . We had the steak and the pistachios crust salmon and the sangria here . The steak was great . The salmon was delicious too with the pistachios twist . We also ordered the bisque de homard which was tastefully done
This restaurant did let us down regarding the starters, their quality was pretty low. However, their main dishes delivered, which were delicious. 4/5
