Some employees here are genuinely pleasant to deal with, and you can tell many of them care about helping customers. Managers are another story - not very helpful and borderline rude. The store also has an okay selection overall. That said, it is not as clean or well kept as the UTC location. I am often stepping on loose Lego bricks that kids drop. Needs a bit of tidying up especially in the evenings. The Pick A Brick selection leaves a lot to be desired. I have come in to find cubby holes nearly empty with only a few pieces, returned more than a week later, and found the same empty slots. If this is not the store’s fault, the manager should be contacting their regional manager to find out why the inventory is not being restocked properly. The item purchase limits also feel inconsistent. A floor manager may suddenly decide something is one per person even though there is no signage, and it may not match the limits shown on the Lego.com website. If you try to buy multiples of a set that is not even popular, a manager might tell you no while their cashier looks just as confused as the customer. If the quantity limit is 3 on LEGO.com then the limit should be 3 in store for consistency. When you ask about stock, the most common response from staff is “I’m not sure” or they may suggest checking Lego reseller shops, which is frustrating since many of those stores are overpriced resellers that mark up minifigures to around $18 each. Overall, the management here seems disorganized and not well trained in customer service, and it really shows during busier times. A bit odd that the teenager employees seem more mature than the older adults in charge. I really want to like this store, and there are some great employees here, but the UTC Lego Store still offers a stronger overall experience.
Just bought the Star Trek enterprise here today. I called before asking if they had it and the lady was so nice and very excitedly told me it was in stock since they are so hard to find! When buying the set the whole staff was so incredibly kind and genuinely excited for me. I’ve been to this store many times before and everyone is always so nice and you can tell they have true passion for Lego. Can’t recommend this store and their staff enough!
Shout out to Andrea! I stopped in just to see the premium sets and started messing around with the mini figures, soon realizing I could make a Dia de los Muertos lady! While looking for the parts to make a man I realized they locked the doors for closing. Turns out the mini figs only sell as a set so instead of selling me the single for $10 she helped me past closing find parts to build a man and make a set. She was very kind and needs a raise/promotion asap.
Nice selection of Lego sets and displays. Cool pick a brick wall in the back. The staff was friendly. The only issue we had was when asking for a Lego bag for our flight so my son could carry on his new Lego set we had purchased earlier in our trip to San Diego. The manager would not let us purchase or have a bag without a receipt because of "policy," she said. "Transient people in the area steal from stores with shop bags." We were confused and disappointed by her reason and customer service. We were dressed business casual for travel and in no way appeared to be "transient." We were going to buy a few more products while we were there, but decided to spend our money elsewhere.
We are on a small vacation visiting our family who is stationed in San Diego for a few years. And today our son in law (Marine) took us to Fashion Valley to walk around since we are leaving soon. As we take the kids into LEGO store we come upon Eric right by the entrance, and let me tell you… we have been to MANY MANY LEGO stores , back home and different cities and states and never have we ever seen anyone so committed and compassionate about their job and explain how much they love to work for your LEGO store. He made our boys and our visit to Fashion valley very memorable, we enjoyed our brief visit. Not sure if Eric is a manager at this Lego store or not but he should be. Thank you Eric, for your hospitality, we will definitely be visiting again very soon.
