They are taking good care of our Gracie Wen who went in for emergency back surgery this past Friday. The staff and Doctors have been great! We are praying for Gracie’s full recovery.
I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Alex Diamond and the entire team at OSU Veterinary Medical Center Emergency. We brought our dog in for symptoms related to kennel cough after she briefly lost consciousness, and from the moment we arrived, the care and professionalism were evident. The team was transparent and upfront that there would be a bit of a wait due to more urgent cases being treated, which was completely understandable and genuinely appreciated. That honesty alone helped ease my anxiety in a stressful moment. Dr. Diamond and the staff took the time to answer all of my questions, made me feel truly heard, and walked me through everything clearly and compassionately. Most importantly, they gave me peace of mind and reassurance that I was making the right decisions for my dog. The best news of all is that my pup is going to be just fine. I cannot thank this team enough for their expertise, kindness, and calm presence during a really scary situation. Columbus is lucky to have an emergency veterinary team like this.
With a very heavy heart this Thanksgiving Day I would like to give Thanks to The Ohio State University Veterinary ER. This past weekend we were there with our beloved MamaKitty who was previously diagnosed with Pancreatitis late August by our Vet - With much dietary management we were able to love on her until Friday she would not eat & was vomiting. We rushed her to OS ER devastated. They advised us we needed to have her seen by their Internal Med Department made her comfortable hydrated her & said to return over the weekend if necessary. We returned Sunday evening when gratefully bloodwork could be drawn though she was so dehydrated. The decision needed to be made to keep her there so she could be transferred in the morning or again return to be able to get an ultrasound. Wanting her home I returned with her early the next morning & they admitted her. Later a mass was detected. We were devastated but were treated with such compassion. They assured us that my daughter & I had done our best but her scenario was unavoidable & terminal & the most humane action was to release her! I can not thank OSU Vet ER enough - the doctors & staff were professional, informative & compassionate. They assisted my daughter & I with the unimaginable during our emotional roller coaster walking us through the loving process! We miss Mama Kitty more then words can say & our forever grateful for OSU - 💕🙏💕
I can’t sing their praises enough. I have a dog reactive Shiba Inu, who doesn’t like being touched. I had to bring him in today and completely forgot his muzzle and behavior meds. The staff was there to help get us into a room designated for anxious pets through a separate door so he wouldn’t have to walk past other animals. When we were in the room, they validated my fears for his health even though he was still alert and ambulatory. They were patient with me while we got his muzzle on and gave him his sedation and were there for any questions I had along the way. Not to mention, I was also sick and they offered me water and tea. If you have a behaviorally complex dog with an emergency, this is the place to go. From the front desk, to the students, to the attending physicians; their bedside manner and level of care is truly unmatched. If you have an emergency with your behaviorally complex pet, bring them here!
I came here a few nights ago to put my little Pomeranian down. 😥 The staff & vet were so kind & supportive. I didn't have funds for cremation so I chose to take my pets body home w/ me. I really appreciate the nice little box they put her in. A few years ago I used a different vet to put 1 of my dogs to sleep & they just put the body in a trash bag.
