I purchased a solid oak coffee table from Edwards Of Monmouth nearly half a century ago, and during a mojo house renovation contemplated getting rid of this piece of furniture as it had seen countless years of not only children but adult feet placed upon not not to mention the countless drinks etc. Before I tossed it in the skip with the help of another, as it’s so heavy I looked around and found The Old Joinery in Cardiff After some discussions with the wonderful owner Madeleine, I sent her of some pictures, to get a price to renovate the table. The price in itself made me decide to go for renovation, so when I delivered it to her shop and she asked me what I want done to it, i told her to give it back to me like what she is looking at never happened. I thought if I get it back half as good as that I will be best pleased with the result. The work was done in about ten days and she called me to tell me it was ready. When I turned up it was like looking at the table the day I purchased so many years ago. Thank you to you and your workers Madeleine, your work has ensured this furniture will still be in the family long after I have gone.

When we were looking for somewhere to repair and restore some inherited pieces of furniture we found The Old Joinery, and I’m so glad we did. Two sewing boxes of my late mothers were sensitively and sympathetically restored and reupholstered on the inside. A nest of Tiled G Plan tables were repaired and given a new lease of life. A childhood chair of my mother- in-laws was repaired in order that younger family members could use it. We then decided to ask that they take on our Oak 6 seater Dining table and chairs. I chose the fabric for the seat pads for which there was just about enough for the 6 chairs. We are so pleased with the workmanship shown and appreciate the care and sensitivity each piece has been shown. Thank you so much 🙏🏻. The Old Joinery repaired and restored my old (30+ year old) rocking chair ready to give to my twins as a gift for their 1st birthday & naming ceremony. I am so happy with the restored paintwork; the chair looks beautiful and has been completely restored to its former glory. Madeleine even added my children’s names but kept the new additions in the original style to match my name. All of the restored artwork is completely in keeping with the original design of the chair.
