Really solid local with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Food came out quick and was good quality for pub meals. The Sunday $30 bowls, beer and burger deal was a winner. Tom sorted us out during the afternoon and made everything run smoothly. Would happily come back again.

New Update (22/10/25): Unfortunately I have to edit my review. Over the last few times I have been here, the steaks are always overcooked. Attached a pictures of my Medium Rare steak. It looked pretty much Well Done. 2nd picture has my steak and my friend's steak (which was also a Medium Rare) on the left and mine on the right. Why the inconsistency? Both ordered and delivered at the same time, both Med Rare. In the past, I have sent my steaks back before but it isn't always an option when eating with friends and having plans for the night (especially when it takes 30 minutes to get one's meal). The last time I sent mine back (got a Well Done instead of a Medium), I ended up with just a slightly less than Well Done steak. Gave up. It seriously used to be good ... but last 3 times have been ‐-------------- Always a fun place! Love their steaks! Last time I went it was a lot busier than what I am used to there. Food took ages, but glad to see the place doing well. Majority of the FOH staff are friendly and service was great.

Love this place - one of the best spots in Canberra to get a drink with friends…HOWEVER, I am coeliac and i understand how hard it can be to cater for people like me - but that does not dismiss the lack of care the RUC took in preparing my gluten free food. As I ordered and ate my food I was confident that it was gluten free (as the staff I spoke to assured me that it was) this was not the case. I got extremely sick after eating here. It is disappointing that a lack of care from staff has resulted in lasting medical effects for me. Please do better at catering for people with dietary needs, it’s simply not good enough.

I literally can’t express how bad the food was and how long it took to finally get it, cold, dry and basic. chicken schnitzel had some sort of gelatinous gravy on it, salad was embarrassing and the braised beef was like square bricks…come on do better…

We are writing as loyal members of The Ruc, and would like the space to share our concerns regarding the decline in quality of food. To be specific the burger night. We would like to begin by saying that the chicken burger used to be good, the size and quality of the breast was great. HOWEVER for the past few weeks the burgers have been unsatisfying, instead of a chicken breast we were served a chicken NUGGET. Now we were willing to put this in the past, as it may have been a 1 off. But this issue has not resolved, and nuggets are being continually served. Adding to this the wait times have increased dramatically, leaving us to wait over an hour for our disappointing chicken burger. You would think that because it is taking so long to cook that it would be fresh and hot. Wrong again, it’s cold. Thoroughly disappointed with The Ruc. And we are seriously reconsidering our loyalty to this once great establishment.
