I went for a holiday family dinner. We made a reservation for 4 and ended up with an amazing table with plenty of room for our apps, entrees and our drinks with elbow room to spare. Keep in mind though that not all the tables are like that. Our server, Maryna was absolutely amazing. She was knowledgable, kind, suggestive and very attentive to our table and not over attentive, just enough to make sure we were happy without hovering over us every 5 minutes. The atmosphere was nice and quiet with some great house/ambient music playing to keep the vibe going although, it was a little too dark for me as I find it hard to read the menu. The food was delicious, my compliments to the Chef. The lobster mac n’ cheese was rich, creamy and cheesey, the broccoli was out of thiz world, all of the items on the chilled seafood tower were fresh with so much flavour. Fries, yummy and my tuna melted in my mouth. The only reason the food got 4 stars is because none of the entrees came with sides, you have to order them separately (except the burger) and considering the prices are very “pricey” it deffinitly racks up the bill. They had a nice selection of mocktails and the dessert was to die for. The cheese cake was deffinitly cream cheesey and the chocolate truffel thing ugggghhh rich, chocolatey and hazel nutty GET THAT IF YOU LIKE CHOCOLATE lol was our servers suggestion. All in all it was a beautiful experience with a high price tag.
If you’re looking for an exceptional downtown Ottawa restaurant, The Shore Club delivers on every level. We’re visiting from Kanata and chose to dine here to avoid the frigid winter weather—and it turned into a truly memorable evening. We were seated at a cozy table for three in an ideal spot for people-watching, which added to the enjoyment. The atmosphere made it easy to relax, talk, and enjoy a meaningful evening together. We discouvered our perfect 3 course meal: We shared fresh oysters to start. For mains, my husband and son shareed the 28 oz porterhouse steak, while I chose the short rib. I expected a smaller portion, but instead received an enormous, beautifully cooked short rib that surpassed my expectations in both size and flavour. Tender, rich, and perfectly prepared. The porterhouse was cooked medium rare, exactly as ordered, and paired well with a side of roasted broccoli. Every bite was outstanding—and perfect for sharing. Our server, Birjan Kilic, provided excellent service and confirmed the short rib is his personal favourite dish. For dessert, Birjan recommended the crème brûlée with Frangelico, which was exceptional. For anyone searching for a top Ottawa steakhouse, oyster bar, or special-occasion restaurant downtown, this is a must-visit. An unforgettable dining experience.
We had a wonderful Christmas Day supper at The Shore Club at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa. The crab cake appetizer was excellent, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For the main course, the filet mignon with scallops and the prime rib were both outstanding and cooked beautifully. In terms of plate decoration, it did not live up to my expectations. The service was extremely attentive and friendly with being a little intrusive. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfect for a special occasion like Christmas.
Three of us had cocktails, appetizers, main dishes and shared one dessert. Atmosphere was nice, white linens on tables, not too noisy. Service was confusing with 4 people serving us in various ways eg taking orders, bringing our items, asking how everything was. Our main server brought our cocktails then never came back to take our dinner orders. We flagged him down after around 20 minutes and he acted as though we were in a rush to eat, which we were not. I had a French 75 cocktail, crabcake appetizer, braised beef and a side order of fries. Most of the mains do not include sides. Overall, food was tasty but I didn’t find it outstanding. My son had a starter of brushcetta which was pretty but he found it too rich. He enjoyed tuna and a side dish of greens. My husband had soup, a steak and baked potato. Not the sides (greens and fries) are meant for sharing and are large portions. Overall, we enjoyed dinner but I prefer Al’s Steakhouse which is a notch less upscale but includes side and salad with main dishes.
Great resto, excellent service, great food, a little noisey, food presentation is nice. If you order a steak, ask for 1 or 2 levels lower since all the meals are served on very hot plates!! My filet mignon cut was not good, even though it was medium, it was hard and chewy when arrived, and was well done in ten minutes. I was at the resto this past Thursday for a private Xmas party dinner, then returned Friday with a friend. Pics are from Friday. Shrimp cocktail is massive, almost a meal for me!! I will be back.
