To the lady who.is mad about them turning her away for being a senior, you are being VERY misleading. 1. Your "membership" is not "paid". It os reimbursable by Medicare (assuming they actually reimbursed on time). And 2. You weren't turned away because you are a senior. You were tur ed away because they likely do not participate in the program (nor are they required to). As for my experience with this location, THE STAFF IS AWESOME! Friendly, patient, and kind are all understatements. I LOVE going here. I am a new member, I am 55, and I am VERY happy with my experience here.

Great staff. Machine stay in working order. When they break they are fixed promptly. Bathrooms clean. Love love the sauna and steam room. Great classes. Nice pool

I cancelled my membership. But for my own reasons. My non-verbal severely autistic 10 year old son had a meltdown here. Threw a water bottle, splattered on the floor. Wrestling my 170 pound frame to the ground (he's 130) because going on my back helps him regulate, as well as hitting my back extremely hard. I didn't let him do this in public, and he was just not having his way. After some crying, hitting, screaming and refusal to get up off the ground, I could see the gym's attention drawn to me. "Are you okay?" A nearby lady asked... I know people glance, some concerned, some indifferent, some understand... and then there was Ben. Ben was a staff member on the YMCA. I noticed he had the microfiber broom in his hand, kind of glancing at us here and there waiting outside near the office door. We crossed paths, and I apologized to him and told him the spill was just water since I assumed he was waiting to clean it. It didn't phase him. He had the broom for a different reason. Ben asked if my son would like to go to a quieter room. He removed the clean microfiber broom from the handle and asked if my son would like to feel it. You see, Ben understood that kids on the spectrum can become overstimulated and have sensory needs, and something as simple as tactile feedback of a microfiber broom strands can help. He told me he was a special needs teacher for 7 years. As we talked, he waived off a supervisor who pointed at the mess my son made. Ben made sure my boy was comfortable and at ease. My son finally quieted down. I knew it was time to go though. You know what? I don't even remember if Ben was his name. I was so frazzled that day. But I do know that people like Ben reflect a light of kindness in this dark world that a parent of a special needs child navigates. He made me realize that there are people in this world who seek to show kindness, and are actually waiting and would jump at the opportunity to do so. And I want to believe that is most people. Thank you YMCA. If Ben is any type of reflection of your mission statement, you should be a proud organization and treat your people well. And thank you to Ben, for making Oliver feel comfortable and heard.

Terrible customer service. I went in last week with my brother to do an aqua class which I had confirmed by calling, was taking place. I have been to this Y before years ago for aqua classes or swim with my membership. I live in Austin, TX. This gym is an affiliate so no problems before. On this day, I was turned away as I was told by a young girl at the desk that my membership is no good because I use Silver Sneakers program. My Y membership gets paid monthly. I told the girl I had a paid membership and that they were turning me away because I am a senior? Not only was that wrong but because I came all the way from Austin and pool was not full that day, they could have been considerate and let us swim. Instead they referred us to a nearby outdoor pool facility that when we got there, was closed. Rude!! Won't be going back or referring anyone there either.

The YMCA on Thousand Oaks has a well equipped gym. On top of this, it offers several classes that are easy to book ahead of time. I’ve enjoyed the spinning class and the water aerobics. I fully intend to check out other classes now that I have the time.
