My husband and I have been gardening for years, but this past spring was the first year that we ordered compost from Tidewater Mulch & Material. Our garden took off so much quicker and produce amounts surpassed every year before exponentially. We agreed we'd be ordering their mushroom compost again for years to come and recommend it to every one we know who has a garden! Before I could write a post about the wonderful results of the compost, we had a second experience with the company. Our water pipes in our crawl space broke and we had water flooding under our house. I called and talked to Nick(not sure what his position is) panicking about this emergency. He was very calm and collected; he handled my situation with care and concern. He helped me get an emergency order of sand delivered that same day so that we could get it spread under our house for our plumber to replace the broken pipes. He was very courteous and knowledgeable of the products/ business both times I've ordered from him and highly recommend this company!

***** PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING**** If I could leave negative 5 stars, I would. We received 13 cubic yards and planted a garden bed the next day. One day later, the bed was hard enough to walk on. The rest of the soil was quickly turning into boulders. We called and spoke to the manager, NICK, who was EXTREMELY RUDE. We politely spoke to him about our issue and asked if there was a remedy. He had an attitude as soon as he got on the phone and was extremely dismissive. He asked for pictures and videos and stated that he would call when he received them. He never called back. My husband called two days later and spoke to him. He was also short and dismissive with my husband and asked what we wanted to do. We asked what options he had. He said none and that there was nothing he could do. I then spoke to him about our issue. Again, he was rude. I would recommend using a different facility until this gentleman is rehomed elsewhere. It is one issue to have unusable soil. It is another issue to deal with rude managers.

Ordered five yards of sifted topsoil and it has huge chunks of packed clay ranging in size but as large as 8 inches (shovel for scale). I'm grading a low spot by hand and I have to break up these chunks one by one which is tripling the time it's taking me to finish. Guy who answered the phone when I called didn't seem to care.

Great place? Second year I’ve had mulch delivered from Tidewater Mulch. Great material, friendly and professional always and awesome prices. I’m really impressed with their delivery service. I live in Norfolk and they are really great scheduling delivery. I highly recommend them!
