Just completed the 1 on 1 sessions today and its been an amazing process. I saw instant results and continue to see progress everyday following the training and commands. I have been working with Jazz and he is a great trainer as well as a great person. He makes sure you feel confindent in the commands before moving on to the next steps and watches for the small details that help with the commands. Would recommend Tip Top K9 to anyone who askes for a good training group and trainer. Thank you for the great experience and cannot wait to start the group sessions!
Our dog Beau was a complete disaster before training — jumping, pulling, ignoring commands, and running the house. Norman completely transformed him. From the very first session, it was clear that Norman knew exactly how to connect with both Beau and us as owners. He was patient, professional, and genuinely cared about Beau’s progress. The difference is night and day — Beau listens, walks calmly on a leash, and actually looks to us for direction now. It’s amazing to see how much happier and more confident he is! Norman didn’t just train Beau — he trained us to understand how to keep up the progress at home. We’re so grateful for his dedication and expertise. If your dog is a handful like ours was, do yourself a favor and call Tip Top K9.
I was hesitant to spend alot of money on dog training when I've had dogs all my life and thought I knew how to train my own dog, but our recent rescue puppy (7 months) was a bit more stubborn, and I felt like I was running in circles, so I caved in and reached out to tip top K9 and it was the best decision I could've made. Our pup Momo is already more obedient to our calls and waaay better on the leash. She was a bitey cattle dog (still is tbh) but now stops play biting me as soon I tell her "off" once it gets a bit too aggressive. Tip Top K9 offers different training packages, from 3 in-home lessons up to a boot camp. We opted for the in-home lessons because I wanted to be involved in our pups training (and it was the cheaper option) and I loved it. Emma and Jazz would teach momo and then walk us through the motions and give us really good constructive criticism on our techniques, what to do and NOT to do. They answered all our questions gave us realistic timelines on when to expect progress. Plus our Momo loved them, and was so excited to see them each time. Our pup is still a bit stubborn and still has some ways to go, and we will be taking advantage of the lifetime group classes soon!
This is NOT a reflection on their training program!! Just want to preface that. I have Chow Chow/German puppies, they’re 4 months old and since they’re all clear with shots I was hoping to get them trained. The young man, Kody, came to my home today and the whole time he worked with any of my pups he was telling me how they’re untrainable, the worst case he’s ever seen, how the program probably won’t work for them and even though he guarantees most families he thinks they need behavior specialists. The WHOLE visit, the commentary was negative on their breed, how nobody has a trained Chow Chow, they’re not domesticated enough, etc. ( Which I know isn't true because I’ve met their mother and she’s extremely well trained) Even when they had a tough time settling to the collar it was all about how they’re so terrible and helpless. They all caught on to the commands, walking, etc. that he was looking for. But the commentary was still about how long it took. I don’t think 5-10 minutes doing something new with a stranger is that extreme but apparently it makes them untrainable and special cases. He then proceeded to bring his dog, Popeye (a cutie, for sure) out of his car and have him lay in my lawn. I am completely fine with that, but when I commented on how greatly trained Popeye was, Kody literally said “yours will probably never be that well trained”. Like what kind of trainer says that after 10 minutes with a puppy? I’m so confused. I made a joke to Popeye when my pup was freaking out over leash pressure and I said “Popeye were you a crazy pup once too” and Kody said “I didn’t have him as a baby or train him, but I doubt Popeye was ever as bad as your dogs are”. Somehow I let it continue and get to the rates and all of a sudden he had recommendations and money back guaranteed and all that. After an hour and a half of telling me every 15 seconds that they’re hopeless. Again, I’m sure the training is great — obviously they have so many great reviews. I let Kody know that I don’t believe that a dog can be successful under a trainer who has already written them off as a waste case, which is unfortunate because I was excited from all of the reviews. The other man that was with Kody was great! I don’t remember his name but he was a bald African American man. He told me about all types of cases and was encouraging, he did say that mine had a lot of drama with the leash — which was true, but I was so blown away by Kody’s lack of social awareness and compassion when his job is literally working with people’s babies. He mentioned repeatedly he’s been training for 4 years and my puppies were the worst puppies he’d ever seen. I can appreciate honesty, I appreciate being straight forward and cutting straight to the chase. What I don’t appreciate is constant negativity, putting my puppies down for normal behaviors (like not wanting him to grab them out their crates upon just meeting him for 10 seconds), etc. I got the sense that he’s just not a fan of Chow Chow’s so literally anything they did ticked him off. I told him if a teacher just didn’t like my child, I would never leave them with the teacher because they won’t try or believe they can succeed. I feel the same about my pups, if you’ve already written them off then there’s nothing you can do to benefit my family. I do wish that I asked Kody to turn over the assessment to the man that was with him. I would have preferred Kody simply waited in his car while we finished. Anywho, thanks a bunch for coming out and to the man that accompanied Kody. I’m so sorry I don’t remember your name! It isn’t in the texts.
I can’t say enough good things about this dog training experience! I brought in my stubborn little dachshund who thought he was the boss, and the difference after training is incredible. The trainer was patient, knowledgeable, and really understood how to work with a strong-willed pup. They took the time to explain each step and made sure I felt confident continuing the training at home. My dachshund listens so much better now, and we finally have some peace in the house (and on walks!). I’m so thankful for their guidance — it’s made such a huge difference in our relationship. Highly recommend to anyone with a hard-headed dachshund or a dog who needs a little extra structure and consistency. Totally worth it!
