Great staff and great care! They are largely responsible for saving my dog's life (he had parvovirus, an extremely serious condition) - and since then have been fantastic with follow up care and personalized treatments. Danae and Michael and the rest of the front desk staff are always extremely helpful and communicative, and Dr. Reed is a real pro! Would recommend this hospital to anyone reading.
I have been with Turquoise Animal Hospital for many years and many dogs. They have always received top notch care and thorough exams. Dr. G is so patient and answers all my questions and options available. He is aware of the personality of each dog and has especially worked patiently with a very anxious dog. The front desk has been consistently helpful and organized. I am so grateful for the family feeling and excellent care.
I have struggled to find a vet in the last decade or so since returning to San Diego. And even more so, one that would see exotics. We have had guinea pigs and cats, and we stumbled across them. We saw another exotics vet, and it wasn't a good fit, and there was a lot of dismissal (not the point of the review, though), but I bring it up because we never, ever experience that here. They have treated every pet of ours like their own, and it's clear by how they interact with us, but also how our animals respond to them. We have unfortunately lost a couple of pets since becoming regular and established here, but they have been nothing but supportive, loving, and kind. They love our animals, they recognize us, they know who they are working with, and they are friendly. The entire hospital is knowledgeable, and they truly have a passion for the animals they treat. It's always clean, friendly, and comfortable when we go (and we've been quite a bit in the last month). I will continue going there for as long as we possibly can, without a doubt.
Our furbaby loves all the friendly and helpful staff and doctors at Turquoise Animal Hospital so much that he quickly forgets he’s at the vet. We’ve also used their boarding services for one weekend due to our usual place not accepting dogs with a cone and they were able to accommodate him last minute. I got updated while we were away when he needed a new medication and his wound healed well by the time we picked him back up. Thank you everyone at Turquoise Animal Hospital for always taking such good care of Pinto 🩵
The vet told me, ‘I already spent 7 minutes — actually now 8 minutes — on the phone with you, and my time is valuable.’ He made the same remark during our visit the day before, and repeated it again on the phone. I ask questions because I believe a veterinarian has a duty of care to provide pet parents with clear medical advice. After that, it became clear this clinic cared more about billing for shots, medications, and visits than about helping my dog. Over two months, three visits, and over $900, my dog’s itchy paw is still unresolved. The vet kept changing his diagnosis and pushed a foxtail surgery, which found nothing. At no point did they offer any options that resembled real pathways toward healing. My dog is now spending two weeks in a cone, on heavy medication, recovering from an unnecessary procedure. All because he was licking his paw. It feels like they created a bigger problem just to charge us more. At one visit, the vet brought my dog to me in visible pain after he made him bleed with a long sharp tool just to “show” he wouldn’t stay still. When I asked for documentation of everything they had done, he refused, saying they don’t have time for that. I left every appointment with more questions than answers and a deep sense he simply didn’t care. From my interactions, I felt that the dr was insensitive, and insincere. Two stars instead of one because Michael and Danae are professional, calm and talk to pet parents with the respect we deserve when we show concern for our fur babies.
