I attended one class here a while back and have been debating for a long time if I should leave a review or not. I have taken and been a member at a few boutique fitness places in the area over the past 10 years and I was really excited about this studio because it had great reviews and looked like a cool atmosphere and a great place to get into Pilates, I was very wrong. From the moment I got there the girl at the front desk was extremely rude, no welcome for it being my first time or even a hello, just asked for my name. Typically you get a tour and a brief introduction to the equipment after being introduced to the instructor for the class, this is not a practice here apparently. I had to ask where to go from there and what to do because I had never been there before when she just pointed to a door and told me to go through it. After finding somewhere to put my things I went into the studio, there was someone else sitting on a reformer and I thought she also there to work out, turns out she was the instructor and the owner. I said hello when I walked in and she promptly stood up and left the room without saying anything to me in return. When class started I realized and I this person is the instructor I was even more uncomfortable. She proceeded to start the class and the entire 5-10 minute warm up she stood at the front of the studio on her phone barking out exercises to us and not even looking up to see if we were doing it correctly or safely. After the warm up she was more engaged in the class and did demonstrate some movements, but from what I gathered of the class was this is not a class, or a studio someone with no Pilates reformer experience would ever want to go to. There was no explanations of any equipment, no modifications offered to people struggling or doing exercises incorrectly, I don’t even think she had us adjust any springs the entire class. After the class I felt extremely uncomfortable with the entire experience and quickly grabbed my things and left with no plans of going back. Until a few hours later when I was at work and I realized I left my purse there. I called and again the front desk girl was very rude and said that she couldn’t go check because there was a class going on and she couldn’t go look through the lockers until everyone had left and their things were no longer in the locker. This I kind of understood but not really considering all the lockers are unlocked and not numbered so anyone could open any of them at any time to look for their things. I got off work late, around 9 pm and still hadn’t received a call back so I decided to call again in the morning. I called about 5 times and no one answered even though I saw on the schedule there was a class starting in 30 mins. So I got in my car and drove over. The front door was unlocked so I went in to find no one at the desk and a class going on. I waited a few minutes and when realizing there was no one there who I was going to be able to speak to I went into the locker area opened a few lockers and found my purse hanging exactly where I left it. So no one checked to even give me a call back to let me know if they had found it or not. Obviously I don’t reccomend this studio to anyone and especially not anyone let alone someone who is new to Pilates. The entire experience was horrible, I probably could have gettin over the format of the class if anyone who worked there was friendly or nice or even acted like a normal human being. Makes sense that the class I was in was basically empty. Oh and your stuff isn’t safe in those lockers since anyone, me included, can walk right in and go through them and have the instructor of the class going on watch you do it and still not acknowledge what’s going on.
I’ve had two classes here now and they’ve both been amazing my first class with the summer and my second class was with Naomi. I worked up a sweat in both classes and felt great after my workout. Will definitely be back.
Genuinely my happy place! I’ve been coming here for almost a year (with a short hiatus for surgery/recovery) and I can honestly say that I’ll keep going for as long as I live in the area - and as long as they’ll have me lol. The classes are such a great balance of challenge and basics, and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. Alyssa and Maya are my personal faves for their pacing and the way they always offer thoughtful modifications, but truly, I haven’t had a single instructor that I didn’t like. No matter who’s teaching, you’re in good hands. If you’re considering trying reformer pilates, UGP is the place to do it!
I joined Underground Pilates about a month ago, and it’s already become one of my favorite places to be. I’ve dealt with a lot of injuries in the past, and starting Pilates here has made a huge difference, I’m already feeling stronger, more balanced, and healthier. Daisy, is phenomenal, she brings such a strong knowledge of the body and always provides clear, varied instructions that make you feel both supported and challenged, no matter your level or limitations. The energy in the room is fantastic, super motivating and welcoming. Also, Daisy’s playlist is fun and always on point, creating the perfect vibe to keep you moving and engaged throughout class. I’m so glad I found this studio, it’s truly a standout space for movement and healing.
I did Pilates for the first time and let me say it was the best experience! Our instructor Ashley was attentive, professional and friendly! She was helpful and patient with me which I loved! I was greeted with smile from the receptionist( can’t remember her name) and she showed me around the studio since it was my first time. I will definitely be back!
