I went to the ER in June of 2024. I have been fighting with the billing department on how to get them paid by insurance for going on 2 years. This hospital sucks as far as the billing department goes. I’ve called and spent hours explaining exactly what they need to do. My insurance says they can’t pay them unless they call. This is getting ridiculous that it’s taken this long. The representative I spoke to this morning was completely rude and dismissive. I’ve been treated so unkindly when I’ve asked to escalate this issue to get it taken care of.
This place sucks do not come here. All of the staff are miserable. I have been waiting 4 hours in the ER to get sent back to a room.
I’m a physician and never have I had such a difficult time getting through to speak with someone on the phone in any health system. I am calling from WI to inform a primary care doctor about a patient of theirs I saw out of state and I couldn’t get through no matter how many prompts I went through or numbers I called. I tried the physicians’s office and the main hospital and after 45 min, never got through to an actual human. I see there are other concerns with this, UofR, you desperately need to revamp your call center. This is detrimental to patient care and continuity of care.
Their doctors and medical care are fantastic. Their billing department is horrible. I have never had such a difficult time in my life with a person who is seemingly deliberately trying to make things go wrong. This is new. This person is using whatever influence she can to make it impossible for me to fix the problem.
My husband was transferred here. Everyone was very kind. We got here, after driving 3.5 hours for specialty care, he was seen, prepped for surgery and in the OR within 2 hours. I'll admit being in an ER with all the beds in the hall was a little uncomfortable and I can see how, if its super busy, things can get bad for people waiting but our experience was positive. We'll see how it goes since he is going to be here at least 3-5 days (maybe longer) but so far I'm pleasantly surprised.
