I was referred here by my normal vet and they took good care of my dog, the vets know what they’re doing. However, what stood out the most to me was the empathy of the employees. There was a dog in one of the kennels who was having repeated seizures - she was stable and being monitored, but sometimes seizures are inevitable - and each and every employee that went to the kennel to check in on her gave her attention and care and pets and spoke to her in soothing tones. If I didn’t know any better I would have assumed that dog belonged to every employee that checked in on her. It was really reassuring to see. Thank you for your care of these animals! WRT my dog, they did a great job with him. Listened to my concerns, evaluated him well, treated him with compassion, took into account his preexisting conditions. The wait was very long but this is the case at every ER I’ve been to.
I love this location and their staff. It's always a great visit for me because I know my dog is in good hands and they ease my stress. For my dog Queen it's another story but I sincerely and wholeheartedly appreciate their patience, understanding, caring and love for what they do and how they care for their patience. They are great and their the best!!!
I took my dog Zeus of 13 years in to VEG ER in the evening due to him shaking and not eating for a few days. I found out from the vet he had a tumor and was bleeding. I had to make the tough decision to put him down. The staff was so sweet they give him some medication for the night so I could spend a few more hours with him. The staff the next day were sweet and compassionate as I spent my final moments with Zeus. I was not rushed by the staff and told to take as much time as I need. When I was ready the doctor came in and put him to sleep in my arms. For a moment that is so heart breaking as a pet owner, the team at VEG ER helped me through it. Thanks so much to all your staff that took care of Zeus and my family durning his final moments before he crossed the rainbow bridge.
Genuinely so grateful for the supportive, attentive staff at VEG. My dog had to stay for two nights on an IV and everyone was incredibly accommodating of his needs and mine - I felt welcome to stay as long as I wanted, my anxious questions were answered, and everyone understood the love I have for my dog and the concern I had for his health. My dog received the best care I could have expected. His nurse Shay in particular was amazing. When I wasn't able to be there, I received regular updates by text and phone, and I appreciated the level of price transparency. He's very anxious and the team went above and beyond to try to help him settle, going so far as to set him up with TV on an iPad for a distraction (lowkey better care than I've received myself in any human ER). In a really scary situation, all of the workers were soothing and understanding. Happy to report Roger is home safe - if he needs emergency care again, I'd return to VEG in a heartbeat.
VEG was actually recommended to me by a close friend who had to bring her cat in for an emergency about a year ago in a conversation about local vets, etc. that we had weeks ago. I'm so glad she referred me here. The staff, doctors, facility - everything - they're all incredible and exactly what you'd wish for as any pet owner when your fur kid is going through it. My senior pug, Frank, developed aspiration-induced pneumonia (which I didn't even know was a thing) and was struggling very hard to breathe - it happened very suddenly and it was very scary. Their facility has 2 oxygen chambers and he stayed there from late Saturday evening through this afternoon. I can't tell you how welcoming, informative, attentive, efficient, and kind all of the staff, doctors, nurses - everyone - is here. I've never experienced a place where you're able to stay with your pet 24/7 and honestly, I wish this was the standard with vet care in many cases. You don't feel as helpless and - as someone who always feels like I don't want to get in the way - I felt very welcomed and encouraged to stay as long as I wanted. When you're that stressed about your pet and their prognosis can change minute-to-minute, it's not really a time that you want to chat it up with other owners, but everyone there with their pet is going through something difficult too, and it was actually nice to have some other humans (aside from the staff, of course) around who are kind and empathetic about your situation - who you can undoubtedly be kind and empathetic back to. It feels good to not have to go through it alone. All in all, the experience could have been so much scarier but because of the combined experience, facility, and just general kindness of everyone on site here, Frank is home, recovering (very well) and resting - just 3 days after he could barely breathe and I was almost certain this might be goodbye. Their care allowed him to have more time with me and his sister-pug (Frida) and we are very, very glad and grateful to have him home and on the road to recovery. Thank you a million times over to everyone at VEG H Street! -Anna, Frank + family
