Super chill gym. Fun auto-belay routes (especially the stone wall) and there are tons of cool boulders to climb. Compared to The Hive it's a bit grungier (not dirty just well-loved) and the mats are a little tougher, but there are way more hold types here and I thought the setting was really fun on the V1 and V2 climbs. It's also significantly cheaper which is much appreciated. Will for sure be back!

My friends and I showed up right at opening (4:00) and waited outside in -13°C for over an hour, only for the place to never open. Thankfully we didn’t have a reservation for the fee, but standing around freezing for nothing was brutal. If you value your time—or your fingers—don’t show up early. Really disappointing.

The bouldering mats / fall zones they have are sufficient in some areas, but really bad in others. There are a couple crash pads that climbers can set up for themselves to help with this, but its not nearly enough to be safe for some problems. This is by far the biggest issue with VA for me. The setting is good at intermediate level, however there are few options for beginner climbers. The problems they set are very physical (rather than technical), which isn't bad, but makes it even harder for beginners to learn. Some of the 1* problems I climbed had small crimps in them, which is crazy. The moon board is great though, and they have tons of steep climbs which is super fun. I will probably come back, but I would never bring a friend here.

My advice would be do not book birthday parties here. If I could give zero stars, I would. I booked a birthday party well in advance and called to confirm ahead of time. Day of the party, I received at text 1 hour before the party confirming my reservation. When I and all the party guests/parents arrived, it was closed. No one answered the phone, emails or repeated buzzing of the doorbell. We waited around for 30 minutes when one of the parents noticed on their social media that they had closed for the day due to a staff emergency. There was no communication to me about this emergency and had that parent not looked it up, we would not have known what was going on. I was left planning a party for 11 kids on the spot. In follow up, no one from the business has called or emailed me back despite MANY attempts. I have spoken to 2 employees who have both told me that they have 'let the boss know and that they should be contacting me shortly'. The party was slated for October 19 and by November 5th, no one has called me. They have also not refunded by deposit. I am unsure of what kind of business they are running where they would only have 1 staff member on to facilitate a birthday party with 11 children. I am also unsure of what kind of business doesn't know they have an 11 kid birthday party coming in and calls ahead of time to let them know it's cancelled. Their lack of communication overall shows that they don't really care about their customers. Long story long, if I was a parent and wanted to book a birthday party, I would NOT do it here.
