I had the pleasure of going to the vintage wine bar on my actual birthday which was 11/28. Firstly I understand there are rules employees and managers have to follow. We had a small request for separate checks and were advised it is not possible which we understood. However the manager on duty had the most rudest attitude which really made us feel awkward. I was thinking of buying bottles yet the way she communicated was disrespectful. Atleast she could have said happy birthday and politely explained the rules but she literally brushed us off with a NO!! If a manager has to represent an upscale bar atleast have a calm attitude and be friendly. We later went to vintage wine merchant and were treated with so much respect and the amazing ladies wished me happy birthday and provided the best customer service. Prior to going I became a member and I am Looking forward to seeing these amazing ladies every month!!
This place is one of the best spots in the Bay Area to enjoy a well-curated wine selection and a delicious cheese and charcuterie board while people-watching and listening to the band next door—all in our favorite one-stop weekend hangout, Santana Row. We drive down to SR not just to shop or eat, but to drink—sometimes with friends, sometimes not—but always with our fur baby. The wine list is always full of great finds! Kudos to the sommelier (or whoever curates their wine list) for keeping the selection small but exceptional. We have our favorites that we go through quickly, and then we try new ones—which we often end up buying directly from the vineyard (when available) to stock up and enjoy a glass (or two) when we are home.
(Addressing Owner/Management) Title: Disappointing Experience at Vintage Wine Bar — Request for Management Review Dear Owner/Management of Vintage Wine Bar, I’m writing to share a disappointing experience we had at your restaurant on Saturday, November 1, with my wife, my mother-in-law (visiting from Spain), and my five-year-old son. We were met by a manager who exhibited a very negative attitude and, at times, behavior that felt discriminatory. Here is what happened: We requested a table and were shown several options. When a lounge area became available, we asked to move there to accommodate our family. After ordering several tastings and a bottle for the table, we were told to move because another party had a reservation they needed to fulfill. Shortly after, we were asked to leave the restaurant, which felt abrupt and unfair, especially given our bill was well over $300 for the visit. The overall experience left us feeling unwelcome, rushed, and uncomfortable, with the impression of biased treatment toward our family. What could have improved the experience: Clear, respectful communication regarding seating and policies. Consistent service that doesn’t shift once a guest has ordered and is spending money. Professionalism and sensitivity from management toward guests who are traveling or hosting family. We understand that reservations and table turnover are part of running a restaurant, but the way this situation was handled was not appropriate. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and ensure all guests are treated with courtesy and fairness, regardless of party size. Would you consider reviewing staff training and guest experience standards to prevent a recurrence? Our intention was to enjoy an evening with family, and this experience did not meet those expectations. Sincerely, Francisco Quintero
Very cosy and nice wine bar. Early mornings or late evenings are so nice.
Cozy spot, but be mindful of the noise! It’s a small and cozy place with both indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was raining, my friend and I chose to sit indoors. Initially, it was perfect — quiet and relaxing. A couple of tables were occupied by two people, and everything seemed peaceful. Then four guys walked in, and it completely changed the atmosphere. It got incredibly loud to the point where I couldn’t even hear myself talk. I had to raise my voice so my friend could hear me, which definitely ruined the cozy vibe we were hoping for. Tip: If you choose to sit inside, make sure the space isn’t filled with loud groups. Other than that, the food was good, the wine was delicious, and the servers were very friendly and polite. Worth a visit, just be mindful of the noise level! 🍷
