This family‑owned spot is truly precious, and both Enzo (my dog) and I absolutely love visiting. Every single staff member — and I mean every one — is always so welcoming and friendly to me and my pup. If you’re a dog owner, this is your kind of place. They even have a pup cup bar. I’m adding a brief clip from our visit that highlights the kind of small touches that make this place stand out. Dog‑parent perks aside, this nursery has the best ceramic pot collection in all of San Diego. Beautiful colors, every size you can imagine, matching saucers — everything. And the prices are genuinely great. If you’re hunting for something specific, they’ve got you covered. There’s also a sweet little section of home décor, patio goodies, and dog items sprinkled throughout the store — perfect for gifting or treating yourself. Plenty of parking, a rewards system, friendly vibes, and a super dog‑friendly atmosphere. Make this your new go‑to dog‑walk destination. Enzo and I already did.
This nursery is a gem in Point Loma. The plants are always healthy and well cared for, and the selection is huge — from colorful flowers to fruit trees and succulents. The staff here really know their stuff and are happy to answer questions or point you in the right direction. The place is well organized, easy to navigate, and I’ve never had an issue with parking. Every time I leave, I feel like I’ve found something special for my garden. Highly recommend! 🌿🌸
Great selection and nursery overall! Beautiful garden art throughout, a great selection of trees, flowers, veggies, succulents and more. A very nice indoor plant selection too.
Walter Andersen Nursery in Point Loma is one of my favorite nurseries to shop for all my garden needs from fertilizers, compost, potting soil, mulch, veggie packs, roses, variety of fruit trees, succulents, pots, orchids, etc. They have very knowledgeable and supportive staff on the floor to provide information and tips to their customers to ensure success in gardening. The nursery has done a lot to improve the facility for the past few years indoor and outdoor. It is well stocked and very clean. A popular nursery for the locals. Parking is limited and it is hard to get in and out of the lot especially during peak hours. They do offer free garden classes so check schedules and locations.
So Walter Anderson Nursery is a great all around Nursery from product variety to amount they have stocked to rare and unique plants that you've never seen or even heard about before. Now this location can be a little bit difficult to enter into first time so just pay attention to the directions so you don't drive past it and for that reason I generally do prefer their Poway location over this one just because of it's ease be able to get in and out of no problem. Now I will say that this location does tend to carry the rare plants out of the two locations if you check out my pictures I just uploaded along with this review. There are two of them really cool however pricing is pretty high even with it being a rare plant I mean that's awfully pretty penny to pay for such a small cactus. But inflation is a you know what so other than that the staff is always helpful and not much more to add to it than that so if this is in your area definitely come out and if it's not and your down in San Diego its worth checking out as well.
