We are extremely pleased with Sophie’s three-week training program with David Curtis. Throughout the entire process, David conducted himself in a highly professional manner and communicated exceptionally well. He provided daily updates that included both videos and pictures, which gave us great confidence and insight into Sophie’s progress. During the training, David successfully taught Sophie essential obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, and a reliable recall. He also utilized her “place” command in a very effective and structured way, helping her develop focus and calm behavior. Additionally, Sophie made significant improvements in walking on a leash, including learning to heel properly. Overall, the training was thorough, well-organized, and extremely beneficial. We highly recommend David Curtis for anyone seeking professional, effective dog training with clear communication and proven results.
David is a miracle worker. I started with a disobedient and destructive 9 month old pit/lab mix puppy and 3 weeks later had a 9 month old goodest boy. David is extremely easy to work with, provides daily (multiple times a day) pictures and videos of the progress your dog is making and explains the process throughout. I can not recommend him enough!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about David Curtis and his dog training program. My Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, Luna, just completed his three week Boot Camp and the transformation has been rather remarkable! David takes the dogs into his home, working with them alongside his own pack, which creates such a natural, structured environment. Luna learned how to walk calmly at my side without lunging, greet other dogs, politely, quiet her barking and so much more. Because of her breed, Luna is very protective of me, and David helped us both learn how to manage that so I can actually welcome guest back into my home. But what makes David extraordinary is not just his skill, but also his heart. He truly treats every dog like family– and in such a short time, he’s become like Family to me as well. If you’re looking for a trainer, who is exceptional, compassionate and effective, David Curtis is your guy. I am so so lucky to have found him because if I hadn’t, I was so afraid I would have to rehome Luna… and that would’ve totally broken my heart. Thanks to David, my heart is still in one piece!!!!
We first met David when we saw him out in town with one of his dogs. We sat in awe watching his dog follow his every command with laser focus. We have a Doberman Pinscher that we had worked on basic commands but still had areas that could use improvement. We approached David and complimented his well mannered dog and after talking with him, found that he is a dog trainer. We met him several times after this and when our dog turned 6 months we made the decision to board and train for 3 weeks. Our Doberman, Gabriel, understood basic commands and in public was behaved. However, at home he could be quite rambunctious often causing chaos. He saw my son as a litter mate and would often try to bite at him and dominate him by pushing, biting, and crowding him. He would also terrorize our smaller dog and had no understanding when enough was enough. We had worked on recall but he was not consistent enough to trust him to come back. To make a long story short, Gabriel is now the best version of himself. David has transformed all behaviors into a positive and enjoyable. Not only has his training created a well respectful dog but also created our bond even stronger because of the trust we now have in him. David was excellent at communicating, expectations, and answering any and all questions we had during all phases of training. He continues to follow up to ensure both Gabriel as well as us are communicating correctly. David is an amazing trainer and in those 3 weeks it was very evident that he created a bond with Gabriel. We are pleased throughout the entire process and would highly recommend him for any version of training you are considering. Gabriel is a testament to David’s training ability. There is no doubt that we will return to him in the future for any new dogs.
The short version: David is a miracle worker with dogs (and their owners.) If you want a well-behaved dog that can share every aspect of your life, and you need help getting there, you will find no better trainer than this guy! For those of you seriously considering the leap to work with a professional dog trainer, here is the longer version (because nobody would send their dog off with a stranger for 3 weeks without doing their research!): Before we found David, my mini Australian Labradoodle pup, Atticus, was gorgeous to look at but often stressful to be around. He was a maniac when friends came over, jumping up on guests, knocking drinks out of their hands, and just generally dominating the room. He owned my couch no matter how many times I said “off!" On walks, he pulled me along at his pace, jumping up on every passerby as if they were long-lost cousins. He was a scavenger who picked up everything in sight, from dead birds to chicken bones, and refused to “drop it” even though we practiced that command at home ad nauseam. No matter how many puppy classes we attended (12 to be exact), things weren’t improving. Now, after 3 weeks boarding/training with David, he’s good looking AND obedient, polite, and a pure joy to be around. On walks he stays close by my side like we’re competing at Westminster. In the house, he quickly goes to his “place” when visitors arrive (or anytime I tell him.) His stay command is very strong. His demeanor is no longer “that crazy dog” as my friends referred to him behind my back. I thought, incorrectly, that I had socialized Atticus adequately; David took it to the next level. Now he is calm, confident, and happy both at home and in public. That’s not to say he is suddenly a perfect dog. But now he responds positively when corrected. He takes me seriously and in return, I treat him with respect. I will be forever grateful to David for the positive relationship Atticus and I can now have for the rest of his life! If you have been on the fence about whether to get professional training for your dog, call David to learn about your dog’s potential. He will be upfront with you about what is possible. I was anxious about sending my pup away for 3 weeks, but I am so glad I did it. David genuinely loves dogs, and he took care of mine as if he were his own. Throughout the 3 weeks he had Atticus, David communicated with me almost daily via texts and videos, sharing what he was teaching, showing me how Atticus was responding, and explaining to me the how and why of his methods. I learned a lot about what my job would be once I brought Atticus home through our text exchanges and one-on-one training at David's place because truthfully, my dog wasn’t the one who needed to be trained. It was me all along!
