I had an exceptionally positive experience wit this office! The staff is kind and helpful. I got in for my appointment on time and all my questions were answered with patience and concern. I can’t say enough positive things!
Everyone was very nice. Doctor listened to my concerns i felt like he did a through exam. The results weren't exactly the ones I wanted to hear but they have handled the situation so far Very professional but with compassion as well. Dr. was defintely able to ease my mind a bit..So we shall see on the next appt in Febuary. Im accepting all prayers and positive vibes . Also wanted to add that the Nurse also was very nice and made me comfortable on a slightly awkward situation. So good experience for me all around so..more to come.
The parking lot is large but shared with two big buildings. I could find parking the 1st time at early appointment but not when it was later at 10:30am. Also, very little parking for a Honda CRV car size. The office: first staff at the check in counter I met was rude, short and must have had a bad day. On the second appt that one was nice. The Dr. : he came in, barely said hello, looked at the cancer cell, glanced over my face, said we need to make appt for biopsy and some freezing on my face and out he went - good by. The nurses are courteous, but seem to be affected with his fast pace going from one patient to another in a hurry. I guess they get the job done, but do not expect any fuzzy feelings there.
Best part of this place is the location. Very easy to find lots of parking. Directions to find the office pretty self explanatory. Being someone with ptsd at times when triggered I tend to forget in the moment no matter how brief it maybe it’s distracting. People who aren’t familiar with my condition they think the worst. They say “ first impressions “ are important. As much as that may be true it’s not for people like this. All of us are different however, we are not any different then what people deem as “ normal. My experience inside the office was more than I could have asked for with their clinical staff. I don’t expect them all to be cheerful because, I don’t always have that face all the time. That doesn’t mean I’m in a bad mood. I’m simply in my own moment of peace. They all greeted me in the best professional accommodating way. Not knowing my condition as far as I know but even if they were told before hand, it only shows how much more they are in the jobs they are meant to be in their “ purpose” as I call it. That’s what you need to be when you’re in the job of your purpose. Because when you’re not? Medical field or idk maybe a store like cvs or target just as an example. You forget that everyone else around you is just as valuable as you are and deserve the same empathy and care. Like you do your loved ones. Your mother a child friend you consider family. This is my mindset EVERYDAY despite what others assume they think they know. So even though I met them for a brief moment no matter how professional on their end it was. To me it made me feel much more better than they know. So I hope on days they don’t feel like their enough on their bad days. That they know they’re much more valuable to people disability or not. Thank you
AVOID. Went to a dermatologist at UCSD who recommended inpatient surgery for a skin issue, but the next appointment was several months out, so they referred to West Dermatology. The good: I was able to make my initial visit less than a week from calling. Great! The bad: If there was such thing as a Dermatology factory, this would be it. Doctor had one foot out the door when he came into the waiting room. Didn't even introduce himself, his nurse introduced him. No "hello, how are you today?" the first words out of his mouth were "where is it?". Took a look and said "That's a cosmetic procedure, it won't be covered under your insurance, I'll have the nurse get you a quote for cash payment" and walked out. No "do you have any other concerns today?" or "nice meeting you". I could almost see the smoke cloud and the trail of flames he was out of there so fast. I pointed out to the nurse that he didn't even ask if there was pain, irritation, etc. which would normally constitute grounds for insurance coverage. I asked her why UCSD said it would be covered, but he didn't. She said he "prefers to work on cancerous issues" and that he "runs a smaller practice". I told her I got the feeling he was in a hurry, or that my procedure wasn't as valuable to him considering what the negotiated insurance rate would be. My comments left her speechless. Also, a suggestion for whoever is running the office - most offices send a text message upon confirming the appt, and one reminder before the appt. Both messages usually include date, time, address, and dr name and allow a yes/no reply by text. The messages I got from West Dermatology were super aggressive, full of !!! marks, no address reminder (helpful for new patients!) and no text - either call or visit their website. Not user friendly at all.
