I was very disappointed in my experience showing with Wester Gallery. The initial flyers and posters printed to distribute were unreadable and extremely poor quality and I had to ask for them to be reprinted properly. Then my partner had to distribute the new ones himself because the only place the owner was going to take any to was the Falcon bar? (Lazy effort) A number of the catalogue photographs were quite poor quality and rushed because the owner was more interested in getting it finished in time to watch the footy... I also was not given the same amount of social media promotion as other artists they have exhibited. During the opening night the catering was just bread and arancini balls… The gallery was closed early the next day for a private function after opening night denying patrons an opportunity to return to purchase if they wished to. I was only told on the opening night this would be happening. Patrons who did purchase work were not clearly communicated with about when they could pick up their purchases and there was a lot of confusion around this. I also was not told the works would be kept for 4-6 weeks after the show ended- this was not mentioned in the contract and told to me in an email after the show. I ended up pulling them out of the gallery after seeing that they had been treated poorly. When my oil paintings were taken down, they were stacked in a hallway UNWRAPPED with d-rings to front of surfaces. Both my partner and I saw them stored like this 2 days apart when we each had gone into the gallery. When confronted, the owner lied about how long they had been there, stating they were like that for only a moment, which was not true given that we had both seen them like that 2 days apart. I do not recommend exhibiting with this gallery and I am writing this review to hold them accountable. Overall I felt the service was unprofessional and lazy and needs to do better for artists that are already getting exploited. The gallery did not deserve the commission it got from my paintings and I don’t feel that the amount I paid to exhibit was fair seeing how little effort went into everything. The lighting in the gallery was probably the best part.

Such a cool space with a great vibe. Really love the variety of artists that get displayed every time I have been there. I can't recommend highly enough popping in for a visit whenever you are in and around the Newcastle area. Well done to the curators.
