This should be 5 stars across the board. I purchased 7 tickets as part of my wife's 50th birthday weekend. This is something my wife had wanted to do for years. The concept was great, the actors were great, and the server (Amber aka Star Fire) was great. Unfortunately, the meal which seemed to be pretty good to most, included undercooked/raw chicken breasts. Upon replacing 5 meals, 4 of us were served new plates in which the chicken was undercooked again. The server offered to replace the meals again and she offered us an extra dessert when we declined the food. So, she did attempt to make it right but I was surprised that a manager never engaged with us. We still managed to enjoy most of the show. We appreciated the performance. However, it was also difficult to follow the show at times, due to guests from another party coming into our area and playing an arcade game near our table; as well as hearing another staff singing happy birthday at multiple parties at the Magic Time Machine; in separate rooms with no walls. I would like to believe the issue with the food and the distractions were oddities. Again, we appreciated the show but this is my honest overall rating based on my experience.
I got tickets for my daughter and her friends to attend the murder mystery dinner show as part of her birthday celebration. From the moment I reached out with questions, Tim was incredibly responsive and helpful—he made sure the night would be something special. When I picked the kids up after the show, I asked them to rate the experience. Without hesitation, they all said, “10 out of 10.” I asked what the best part was, and they said, “All of it!” They felt completely immersed in the performance and raved about how they were made to feel like part of the show. They couldn’t stop talking about the amazing acting, the humor, and how much fun they had the entire time. One of my daughter’s friends said it best: “This is something I’ll always remember—it was such a fun and unique way to celebrate.” While I didn’t attend the show myself (what teen wants an adult tagging along on a Saturday night?!), I can say this experience exceeded all of our expectations. As a parent, I’m so grateful for a space that offers teens something truly special: an evening full of laughter, creativity, and connection—with no screens, no questionable content, just pure entertainment and theatrical artistry. This dinner theater is a rare gem in San Antonio. Thank you for creating something so joyful, engaging, and memorable. We’ll absolutely be back!
This honestly was so fun! It was such a good time! Dinner and drinks came with the show. And afterwards, you got to meet the cast and take pics. They were all so friendly and fun! Would highly recommend. It is a bit pricey. I’m not sure how much these things usually run. But dinner and non alcoholic drinks are included in the price, so that helps. Anyways, 5 out of 5! 😀 Also, it shows on the answer below that I spent $10-$20 and that’s only because I am signed up with DoMore210. Which is a service where you pay $7/month and every month, they send you a list of things and you choose one event and they send you 2 tickets for it. Last month, I chose this mystery dinner. So really, I only had to pay $7 for 2 tickets to this show, which you can’t beat that! I of course tipped the cast but gratuity for the waitress was included with my DoMore210 package. I just wanted to explain that so there wasn’t any confusion when they saw how much I spent for this event.
Alamo city murder mystery dinner, this was our first murder mystery show but it won’t be our last. My boys are 16 and 12 y/o, as a teen and pre-teen it is very difficult to find activities that appeal to both. It was very refreshing seeing both my boys energy and sincere interest in trying to unravel the mystery of who done it. We really felt the actors energetic nature, crowd interaction and stayed true to their character till the end. Staff and venue are perfect and if you’re an introvert or just want to have a great conversation with a stranger this place will definitely get you out of your shell. The one thing that needs a little help is the food, for my taste it needs some spices. I get the fact they are trying to appeal to all types of people but a little salt never hurt anyone. As soon as you walk into the Alamo Cafe you are welcomed by smiling and sweet staff members that direct you to the check in table. Along the way you can’t help but notice the made from scratch, hand made tortillas, uummm delicious! Their chips and salsa stand out and are some of the best in Texas, at least in my humble opinion. Thanks again Alamo City Murder Mystery Dinner, my boys and I had an amazing time!
The show is 10/10. It was very funny and unexpected. Plus, they have dairy free/gluten free options at Alamo Cafe (the venue as of 10/2024).
