Nothing more than to say than great selection of books and helpful staff. 5 stars.
Friendly, local, comprehensive (not just mystery) and a book-lover's dream! A neighbourhood anchor in one of Winnipeg's great communities.
I ordered several used books online to ship to Ontario, and they were so helpful and quick! I think I ordered them on Friday night and had received the books by Wednesday. The books were in great condition, even better than what they were described on the site in my opinion; some looked nearly brand new despite being over 40 years old
I really love this little bookstore, and they have such an excellent selection of goods that I could browse for hours! I had a particularly good experience recently that made me want to give them more of my business. I called to inquire about a difficult-to-find book, and the person I spoke to (manager or owner, I'm not sure) had so much information for me about why I was having trouble finding this book. I expected either a "yes, we have it" or "no, we don't," but he explained exactly why I was unlikely to find it. I wasn't planning to come in at all if they didn't have my desired book. The fact that I received so much information and good customer service when I wasn't even physically in the store made me want to come down and pick something else out instead. When I did, the person I spoke to remembered the phone call, remembered exactly what I had been looking for, and pulled some suggestions off the shelf that he thought I would like - which I ended up buying, and am looking forward to reading! I like the vibe in here. Every time I go, the staff is very witty and casual, and they talk with the customers like they're friends, which I really like. It feels like not only do they genuinely care about helping you find something you're going to love, but they're super knowledgeable about their overwhelming selection of new and used books. It really is a good, small business run by human beings and not a corporation, and it feels that way when you enter the store.
This has become my favorite bookstore. It stocks "tons" of mystery books as well as a good selection of new releases and used books. If you have a good sense of humor, friendly banter with the manager is fun. Store is clean and well organized; and staff are helpful and courteous.
