A cozy, inviting kids' section where families can read and explore books together in a comfortable space.
I came in there asking for help finding a romance book. I looked around looking for a good book for my sister. I then asked if I can use the restroom. The girl working there said bathrooms weren’t open to the public. I was baffled because I considered myself a patron. Moments later an Asian girl came in there and needed to use the restroom. She was escorted there. Maybe because I’m a man and had a baseball cap made her assume I was a person from the public and not a patron. Anyway I didn’t purchase the book I wanted because that rubbed me the wrong way. Hopefully they treat you with kindness.
In the words of my children, "This is a special place!". While not huge, it definitely measures up with its Oak Cliff hospitality-The best type!. Each time we go in, we are greeted with smiles and open arms allowing my children the time and space to find their next favorite read. The recommendations from the owners have always been spot on, challenging us to read beyond our genres and introducing us to great authors. The community impact of this bookstore is elevated with the owners being former educators, and it shows. This is not just a bookstore, it is a comforting welcome home every time I go in and a reminder that community is built from kindness, patience, and acceptance of all that come.
John provided best experience and he is knowledgeable. There are not many small business left in today’s market. Also they run Spanish book club.
My favorite bookstore in Dallas. John and Claudia are so welcoming and helpful. Top-notch selection of curated books and events. Plus, their literary nonprofit works to increase book access and literacy among the local community. There’s something for everyone here. I highly recommend them!
Fantastic experience... From my call to ask if they had a book to them holding it for me to the warm shop welcome, to the expedient purchase and lovely (free) gift wrapping. Chef's kiss 💋 😘 This is what we mean when we say shop local! Keep uplifting these businesses and keep fun, local, evening experiences alive. The shop itself is quaint with such a large selection of multicultural authors on top of a week curated set of books from business to lifestyle and everything in between. They even have book discussion groups held regularly. I haven't attended one yet but look forward to one in the near future. Also, there was a young mom there with her toddler daughter reading in the kids section and it was quite endearing, very representative of the comfort and warmth this team and shop offers its patrons. Will definitely be back and a huge shout out to Brittney (spelling?) for the outstanding service, care and attention.
