I am super excited to have found this place! It definitely is a comfortable, safe place and beginner friendly. I have tried stretch and flow and love both classes. I look forward to practicing yoga here.
Urban Zen is amazing! From the studio environment and design to the instructors and classes, every single detail was put together thoughtfully and it shows. This local gem is truly special!
Urban Zen is truly a gem in the community. The studio offers a solid variety of classes with a great mix of instructors—regular, gentle, heated, and non-heated—so there’s something for every level and intention. The staff is welcoming and accommodating, and the space itself is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. I also appreciate the access to quality props and the two spacious restrooms available for changing before or after class. One suggestion I’d offer is to consider increasing airflow in the yoga room as it can feel a bit static or stuffy at times. Adding a fan or occasionally cracking the doors would make an already great experience even better. In addition, offering cool or cold towels at the end of hot classes (especially May–Oct.) would be a wonderful touch. I’ve seen other studios use lightly scented lemon-lavender towels, and they’re incredibly refreshing. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this can also help cool and rebalance those of us who tend to overheat living in Arizona’s arid climate. I have to give special recognition to Mark Royce’s breathwork class, which has been genuinely life-changing for me. After attending weekly for 2-3 months, I slept better, had better meditations, my anxiety noticeably decreased, and the practice helped me prepare for—and complete—a 10-mile hike at 13,000 feet elevation without issue. Having practiced in countless studios and at festivals for 25+ years, this class stands out as one of my all-time favorites—the true essence of yoga. As the studio continues to grow, I would love to see more non-heated gentle/flow classes after 5 PM on weekdays, and perhaps a Saturday morning non-heated or Kundalini class. Dance offerings or more classes incorporating live music/instruments would also be amazing additions. Thank you, Urban Zen, for bringing more goodness—and more yoga—to this community. I am truly grateful!
The yoga studio is beautiful. It is clear so much thought was put into creating the space as no detail has been left out. From the equipment, cleaning wipes, storage cubbies, safety protocols etc. The selection of classes is wonderful. So far I have tried Zen Grounded, Zen Stretch, and Urban Pump and I highly recommend them! There is something for everyone and a class time to fit various days and schedules. The owners are delightful! Their passion for their clients and yoga teachers shines through. Since attending I have noticed that some clients do not clean the props after class even though wipes are provided. IMO the classes offered as unheated become too hot because the room is not cool enough. This was especially noticeable during the summer. This is an ongoing issue even now that the summer is over. I recently attended a zen flow class and I overheated because the studio was too hot! I would still recommend Urban Zen Yoga despite these issues.
I joined Urban Zen when they opened in May and it has been amazing! I am pretty new to yoga and I have always felt welcomed and comfortable here. All of the instructors are fabulous - they include modifications for any level and are very encouraging. They also have a great variety of classes so you are bound to find something that fits your interests, abilities, and goals. I feel like my physical and mental wellness have improved significantly since joining. I’m really glad I found Urban Zen and I’m so grateful to be part of their wonderful and fun community!
