Started training at Muscleworks 2 days ago and got myself the one year membership and so far, I am really pleased with the gym! I'd like to start this review by thanking the owner of the gym and the rest of the staff who welcomed me into Muscleworks Gym with nothing but respect and smiles! I instantly felt welcomed and ready to train. The equipment is absolutely insane, a variety of everything you could possibly need in abundance for any parts of your body you're looking to train. The fellow gym goers have been really friendly and always offer their support and advice when need be. Some workouts which I am unsure of, I ask the brothers who look like the human version of the incredible Hulk to help me, which they always do, which is exactly what I need as a new starter to the fitness game. Muscleworks is exactly as described, old school gym, positive vibes all around and the vast majority of gym equipment available at our disposal is really second to none!
Friendly staff, great gym with a ‘no nonsense’ ethic
Old school, gritty and the folks there are just awesome, both the people training and working there. Definitely recommend to have a look at their little attire shop above the powerlifting area. One of my highlights during my London trip! I forgot my towel in the locker room and no one stole it, but when I came back someone had used it, which I found too hilarious not to share.
Heard a lot of good things about Muscleworks before I came for a visit to London and they were all true! Old school, hard core, gritty and testosterone fueled! The perfect gym combination!
Worst gym etiquette I have seen anywhere: 1) Don't bother looking for the weights you need where they belong because nobody puts them back in the right spot, even on the dumbbell racks that are marked with numbers. 2) speaking of those dumbbell racks, expect the clientele to be working out right in front of them or even leaning on them as their own personal benches so that you cannot access the dumbbell racks to grab or return your dumbbells. 3) Never expect any cable attachments to be put back where they belong. They will either be attached to the cables or lying on the floor. 4) Do not expect staff to care or to do anything. Apparently the lack of gym etiquette is seen as normal here. 5) There are only 3 mats and the are not mats you can move around where you need them. Expect people to be doing things on those mats that they could just as easily do on floor space. Granted, the lack of any floor space whatsoever for mat work, stretching, or even really walking (sometimes machines and benches are so close together you have to awkwardly invade someone's space to get past) might be a contributing factor to that issue. It seems like whoever "organized" the gym had no plan and just kept buying more and more stuff till the gym was packed to the gills without adequate space for things like safety or walking past someone else on a machine. This gym does have all the equipment you need if you can find it and if somebody isn't in the way. Being a serious athlete or power lifter is 50% fitness and 50% etiquette. Any real gym enthusiast is considered of the equipment and those around them. So I guess people who work out here are halfway to being seriously fit.
