Bad: The hours(especially weekends) are awful. Facilities are dated. Good: The staff is great. It has a pool and a hot tub. It’s not always packed. And it’s the only gym in the area. Edit: Updating my review since they’ve worked to improve some of the issues mentioned. It now opens at 5 on weekends and they are working on a full renovation of the pool area! Very happy with the progress.
Good to see the gym being “upgraded” since Coppermine has taken over but it’s incredibly dark and masculine. Though dated, there was something more inviting about all the natural light and bright colors of MAC. More importantly, there wasn’t enough ventilation when they painted the ceilings and it felt unsafe to workout in an environment that smelled profusely of paint. There was also overcast on the strength equipment the next morning. Small details that should be considered when the customer experience is front of mind. The women’s locker room has multiple sinks not working, showers clogged, shower doors broken and lights out. I’ve reported these instances multiple times and often hear other members complaining with the same experiences. Perhaps use the early weekend closures to maintain the spaces better. Towels will always be an issue. Classes are inconsistent. App is still “in progress”. The value just doesn’t seem to be there for the cost per month. UPDATE 10/31 I’ve revised my rating from 2 to 3 stars as I was impressed with the quick response from the Coppermine team after my review. Ashley reached out to me to assure me the locker room issues had been addressed, and explained what’s to come for the club’s transition. I felt heard and appreciated the swift follow up!
I've been a member since July 2019, and am so happy to see the changes being made here. While I enjoyed this gym as the "MAC," it is so nice to see that it is now under local, rather than Colorado-based mega-corporate ownership. I know some folks are frustrated with the amount of time it takes to completely overhaul a gym, but I think they forget that this place nearly went under during Covid shutdowns, and I am really glad to see it didn't! I look forward to the pool renovations, the equipment upgrades, and the increasing hours as members return to what is a truly world-class gym. The staff have been so patient in what is a two-year turnover. They've been communicative, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic through all the changes. Honestly, considering many members left for gyms literally down the street and gave their dollars to big corp Merritt, I am thrilled to see the improvements here. The patience is paying off big time. As more members return and new ones sign up, they will be able to add hours and even more, better equipment, which is fantastic. A huge bravo to the Coppermine team for staying local, staying focused, and to this incredible renovation. This gym truly is "fitness elevated" and will pay off big time for the dedicated members! Excellent facility, location, staff, and atmosphere. Thank you for the best workout in Baltimore!
I recently toured Coppermine gym & Cole showed me around. He was super energetic, fun & incredibly informative. He answered all of my questions & never made me feel rushed or judged (I have some gym anxiety). You can tell he actually cares about his job & helping people feel welcome. Signed up same day! They’re currently in a slow transition from MAC to Coppermine, so expect some changes but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s looking like it’s for the better. In my opinion the membership price is very reasonable considering all of the included amenities & the convenient location being right in Harbor East. Parking is also included up to 3 hours if you had to commute. I feel like I’ve found a hidden gem 💎 - 10/10 Thanks Cole!
