These guys told me 200$ for fixing headphones port in my controller. It's like 25$ job
I brought my Roland digital piano to A Tech Electronics in early March to get a mechanical issue with several of the keys repaired under warranty. At first, I was glad to have a local option instead of mailing the piano in to Roland, and excited to support a local shop. A Tech Electronics did a terrible job with the repair. Not only did they not fix the underlying mechanical issue with the keys, they left the piano covered in grease and dust and reattached some of the keys crooked, as shown in the photo. They also kept giving me the run around on the pickup date. First they quoted 2-3 weeks, and then this changed to 3-4 weeks with no explanation. I called a few times for an update—when they finally called me back, they claimed they had called me the week before and left a voicemail (they had not) and implied I had been ignoring them (when they had been ignoring my calls). In the end, my piano is in worse shape than before and I lost over a month of practice time. Avoid this place at all costs.
Really shady, dropped off my turntable here a week or so later I get a call they are unable to repair it. I'm told by the guy that the motor that drives the arm is shot. I know this is not true so I take it to a friend that has retired from this work but he immediately notices the contacts are simply worn-out. He repaired it in a day. Meanwhile these guys ripped me off $95 for nothing. I know they didn't even spend 10 minutes on this unit. Just happy to take the deposit and run. You can clearly see the problem was contacts not the motor as I was told.
It's a really small shop and I've never had an issue reaching them. Today I hadn't and... had no problem getting an answer at the door and picking up my repaired Nakamichi casette deck. My deck was fixed in three weeks so I'm not sure why people have had issues with wait times. For me, I'm thankful, I've been playing tapes for 4 hours straight and the deck is perfect. Remember: labour costs money and I'm happy to support these guys.
I have never written a review for anything before, but this guy gave me such a bad experience I had to. Dropped off my turntable and mixer to be worked on in the beginning of October, when I dropped it off Peter quoted me 3 weeks before he could take a look at my units. Understanding that he would probably need some time to work/inspect my equipment I waited 4 weeks. After not hearing anything from him, I called the store, only to be told my equipment had still not been looked at. At this point I got a little worried but shrugged it off as I had been referred to this shop by other audio professionals in the city. After week 6 and no word from the shop I called again and was told that parts had been ordered. By this time I had read the reviews for his shop and noticed that he'd played this card a few times with different people. He tells them parts have been ordered but no other follow up and the parts never arrive. Not willing to wait on this guy and his bad customer service any longer, I went to the shop to pick up my things. The only saving grace is he did not try to charge me his $70 inspection fee, I think its because he knows he hadn't done any real work. On closer inspection I noticed he bent the filter knob on my mixer. Thanks man. In short, dude wasted 6 weeks of my time + lost wages from weekly gig + bent my filter knob + my stuff is still broken lol. If anyone knows a good shop pls let me know. Thanks!
