All the post below may have legit happened. Here’s my story. I first went there and got a pretty unmotivated doctor who did nothing to help my wound for 3 months. (Mind you at this point I had the would going on 8 months with no progress) However by chance the angel who cured my 3x7 scar on my upper right chest walked in and said my other doctor wasn’t there (a god send no bs) First she explained to me I was given the wrong medication and what I was told to do made it far far worse. Second she took the time laid out a plan for my recovery and implemented it each visit. My wound was baffling for her and she took the time outside of work to call colleagues and hit her books from college to figure out why my skin was not healing correctly or in a timely manner. She found some good info and continued to treat me. A couple months of following her instructions to the very best that I could my wound is the size of a fingernail down from 3x7 raw wound. It’s been going great I’ve healed. Bernice Tan is the doctor I saw and she is far an beyond when it comes to bedside manner, listening to you, taking the time to brainstorm and inform you. And further more she actually heals. She is mad impressive. Further more the front staff that check you in and bring you back. Clean your wound etc are absolutely amazing. Those women work hard and are friendly beyond description. They take good care of you, have good conversational skills and clean your wound nicely for the doctor. So besides the one female doctor I saw at the start who put me in a great deal of pin for putting me on the wrong prescription and never being able to reach ACTIVE LIFF has been an amazing experience. BERNICE TAN and the women who work the front are absolutely amazing. If you have a choice see them. They will make sure your taken care of properly. Lastly. The facility here is kept immaculately clean and you feel your in a high end doctors office. Big props to the entire staff who has helped me and thank you for saving my wound that was so awful. You all are amazing.
I started going there in November of 2017 and just had my last appointment which I was actually sad about. From day 1 the staff and Dr. Souza made me feel at home and I was treated like a person, not just another patient. The level of care is amazing and I think that other medical facilities could learn a few things from them. If I ever get a serious wound that needs after care I will be going back there no matter what my crappy insurance says. Again Dr. Souza, thank you for all your help with my foot amputation and callus on my left foot. I feel like I've lost some friends.
Jeff Souza and the whole crew at 87 Scripps are such wonderful people. They are professional, knowledgeable, and careful with their diagnosis and treatment. My particular wound started to heal right after my first treatment of the medicine prescribed! And amazing results in only two days!!! Subsequent visits showed that they are a highly skilled crew that work well together to make the whole experience for patients comfortable and easy. Much appreciation to all of you there, and lucky you if you get to seek treatment from Dr. Souza and crew!
I have an abscess which I was advised may require surgery to heal properly but my insurance company compelled me to see this doctor first. I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a medical setting and I visit doctors quite frequently. The receptionist was quite nice and friendly it was the nurse practitioner himself whose bedside manner left quite a bit to be desired. After the MA prepared me--who was also very nice--the nurse practitioner came in and asked me what the problem was and I explained the situation. He then took a cue tip style applicator and began trying to jam the large end into my open wound which started bleeding quite a bit. I told him at my normal clinic they usually insert the thin part into the wound to which he responded "oh thank you. You're so helpful" in a sarcastic manner. He then tried to jam it into me again with absolutely no concern for my pain at all. He said there was no problem and that the wound was healing. I asked why is there pus still if it's okay. He then said "do you know what pus is? Do you know what pus looks like? What color is pus". I told him pus consists of macrophages and other dead white blood cells. I told him that's fine I'm not gunning for surgery if I don't have to get it. He responded by saying "yeah the good news is we won't have to know each other". I don't know what caused his attitude as I didn't say anything that could've been offensive. I just have an open wound that's been twice infected and I want to heal. I'm in no position to tussle with a nurse practitioner who brings his personal problems to his job. I will say that I too am glad I won't have to know this person further.
I have seen Nurse Practitioner Jeff Souza several times to care for a wound on my knee. Jeff does an excellent job and his affable demeanor has made visits to his office a pleasant experience. The building is not modern or medical-looking, but the care is great! During my appointments, he explained what the issues were and what could be done to assist the healing process. He also made sure I knew how to care for it at home and had the supplies I needed. I appreciate how he made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. I have seen significant progress in my healing since I started going to Professional Village Wound Clinic.
