I heard about After Hours dance studio from a friend and decided to get back into tap dance after YEARS of no dancing at all. From the very first class I took, I was amazed that a studio existed just for adult dance. I quickly felt at home and reunited with that joy of movement I had as a kid. This studio is absolutely amazing in that it is organized, friendly, encouraging and has well rounded styles and levels. Shawn (the owner) is so friendly and teaches classes as well. As I got comfortable in tap, I became adventurous in my dance goals and tried Afrobeats, several Hip Hop classes from different teachers, jazz, and jazz fusion. But my heart is happiest at tap. I had no idea what level was appropriate for me when I began getting back into tap. I started out in Beginner because I couldn't imagine over reaching to a higher level with years of dust on my tap shoes. It was clear in a short time that I needed more of a challenge. Tap came back to me quicker than I thought it would. But it's only when I landed in Arianna Hyatt's Tuesday night tap class that tap became the center of my week. Arianna is an amazing teacher of technique, rhythm, and form. She knows how to challenge her students and is dedicated to their growth. She prepares new across the floor combinations every week, and I love her challenging and fun choreography. Her love for dance and her teaching ability have created such a loyal following of students. In the two years that I have been taking tap from her, I have gotten so much better and even joined the Showcase performance! I never imagined performing as an adult, but it was such fun! If you want to find joy of movement and dance is something you're interested in, this is the place for you. I have brought friends and family along to try it out and they've enjoyed themselves too. It IS a dance studio so keep an eye on the level of the classes offered and check out the descriptions. When in doubt, start at the most beginner level and move up like I did. But regardless of which style or level you want to try, whether you've danced all your life or are just getting started, there is a welcoming and encouraging place for you here.

I joined a tap class at After Hours Dance in January 2025 after a 40 year break from dance. I had been raising kids and doing life, and I was excited and nervous to start dance again. After Hours was absolutely welcoming from day one, and I felt safe and ready to see what the legs and body could do again. I then returned to my original dance form and the one I spent many years studying; ballet. The world of ballet has always been a very intense and intimidating place for me, however from the moment I took my first class with Arianna Hyatt, I knew this would be a completely different experience. Not only is Arianna a top tier instructor with a high level of dance training, she is the one of the most involved and caring dance teachers I have ever come across. She takes her time to attend to every student in class and actually identify our specific challenges and address them. She gets on the floor and looks at your feet and ankles if need be, and doesn’t leave you until you understand and get the correction right. She answers your questions, checks in on all students, all while pushing you and helping you to get better. She will catch the small mistakes you are making and correct you in a kind and caring way. Arianna will stay after class to help you and answer any additional questions or concerns you may have. As a mom of four daughters who all took dance, I spent a lot of hours in the parent zone and seen a lot of teachers over the years, Arianna is one of the best dance teachers I have ever seen or experienced. She has helped me to develop strength, flexibility, and technique in ballet again, and as a 59-year-old who thought those dance days were long gone, that’s a pretty amazing gift. I highly recommend Arianna and After Hours dance if you are looking for a safe place with exceptional teachers who know what they are doing and can help bring you into the fun and joy of dance.

Shawn is a miracle worker! I wanted to do a surprise dance for my bride and approached Shawn with the caveat that myself and the groomsmen had little to no dance ability and even less rhythm! Shawn created an amazing dance routine that looked good and within our skill levels, and really put in the effort to create something memorable. She also pushed us and showed us that we had more ability than we thought! I was very impressed with her music mixing skills as well as she cut up and edited an amazing song for us. Overall, Shawn is fantastic and Afterhours is the place to go if you need any dance lessons!

I took a beginner hip hop class with Mackenzie today and I want to start with the good things. Mackenzie is a great dancer and her choreography was very creative and clever. And now I’ll talk about the reasons why I gave this studio only three stars. I’m a beginner dancer who has done dance workouts but other than that I have no dance experience and I’ve never taken hip hop classes. The class I took today was definitely not a beginner class and Mackenzie even mentioned this class is a bit harder and faster paced than a beginner class. She also mentioned they have been working on the choreography for 3 weeks and I ended up joining the very last class. I have no problem with a class being intermediate or advanced level but my issue is this was called a beginner class in the schedule which is not true and misleading. This class was at least intermediate level. As a student I came to learn but I feel like I didn’t really learn anything since the class was too fast paced and everyone else already knew the choreography. My suggestion is to put in the class information on the website that this is week 1, 2 or 3 of choreography so beginner level dancers can actually learn new choreography from the very beginning, progress, improve and feel like they know what they are doing. This studio is fun and great for intermediate and advance level dancers but after the class today I did not feel like this studio is very beginner friendly.

Such a great environment and amazing teachers. I had a great time at the burlesque class.
