I have been looking for a replacement/extra battery for my black diamond distance 1500 headlight. The entire country is on backorder for many months and this place has the only one available selling at MSRP of $64.95. I called to make sure that it was in stock. The staff was overwhelmingly, friendly and helpful. I’ve never been to Alaska as I am located in Florida but if I’m in the area and in need of mountaineering or hiking items, I will not hesitate to stop by.

Amazing! Service, selection and value. This is quality gear. No joke. If you need gear this is the place to go. Jason and Rick were so helpful outfitting my son for a NOLS Patagonia trip. We literally couldn't have done it without them! Thank you, AMH!

I originally went to REI to find the backpacking supplies I needed. After becoming overwhelmed and unable to find someone to help me, I decided to go to AMH. I'm so glad that I did! Their store may be smaller, but they actually had a better selection of the gear I was looking for. Plus a sales associate (wish I had gotten a name) took the time to walk me through my options, and helped me find the best items to fit my needs. I'm going to save myself some time and head to AMH first, next time I need some outdoor gear.

Very nice mountaineering store with lots of choices. The staff was helpful and I found what I think will work for me during a fishing lodge trip this coming week. I would have given 5 stars but for the very high pricing of merchandise that had much lower pricing online. It was nearly double the online price. But I did not have enough time to purchase online and get delivery before the trip. Mostly my fault for not getting it done earlier. But their pricing seemed significantly higher than needed to make a fair profit. I would still Shop there however because of the wide choices available.

Awesome store for all mountain equipment in Anchorage. My friend and I were in town for a few days before heading to Denali and first visited REI. The service there wasn’t great and they were out of stock on a lot of items so we decided to check out AMH. In retrospect, we should have never even gone to REI and picked up everything at AMH. They have more selection, better service, better prices, and just much easier to deal with. They had small accessory parts that we thought we wouldn’t be able to find which was amazing. I would highly recommend people just stopping here before they head out to Denali (or any other climb).
