As a first-time business owner, I had no idea where to start with taxes, but Allison and her team made the process seamless. They answered all my questions with patience, made everything easy to understand, and ensured I felt completely supported. Not only did they handle my taxes efficiently, but they also helped me plan for the future of my business. Their expertise in small business accounting, tax preparation, and financial planning gave me so much peace of mind. If you’re a small business owner looking for a knowledgeable and reliable CPA, I highly recommend AM CPA—I’m so grateful I found them!

I’ve used this company the last two years and while they were able to get one year corrected, there have been several concerning misses each year. Most recently, an Earnings Tax - Profit was not filed for a 1099 received. All forms were given to them but was missed in the filing process somehow. I would expect a company in the KC Metro area to be better versed in the reciprocity issues that come with Kansas/Missouri employment situations. Hopefully they are just growing pains and are able to better serve the area with more experience.

Echoing some of the same concerns that were mentioned in previous reviews. We originally were put in touch with Allison’s group via a personal recommendation and worked with Allison’s group for just over 2 years. For context, I run a small business that isn’t super specialized nor needs a crazy level of support, but still has some tax/accounting related needs outside what a “typical” small business may encounter. We were looking for a CPA that could help us navigate taxes, deductions, accounting functions and other CPA-related aspects that help our business stay compliant and thrive. Early on, Allison’s group seemed to be a good fit; however, that quickly changed over time. Communication: Early on Allison and her group were attentive and responsive to our CPA needs, however, around the time where her group began expanding, we noticed a dramatic dip in professionalism, timely response, and completeness & quality of the services. Emails took days to respond too, staff were not clear on directions or needs, paid for services were only partially rendered, requests were often lost or not responded to for weeks, and follow-ups were hard to come by. Phone calls were often dismissed and sent to voicemail and either never responded to or heavy delays in a follow up. Generally speaking, the overall tone from the staff was one of annoyance or “we’re too busy to help you”. I should mention that Allison’s group has moved to a heavily automated approach where you work more with emails and forms than you do with actual people. Want a phone call with Allison or her staff?...that’ll cost you a fee. Quality of Services: For anything basic such as filing simple taxes or business registration, Allison’s group was competent in handling these things. However, for more complex business needs such as advanced tax planning, staffing & payroll, yearly preparations, or navigating tax compliance/laws; Allison’s group fell short of expectations. This was particularly frustrating as one of the services Allison’s group offers is a “Tier 2 Tax Planning” which is aimed at creating a more in-depth and comprehensive tax plan to help you succeed. We paid the fee, conducted one phone call, and still have not received any sort of “action plan” for these services. When we pressed Allison’s group for a plan, their response was “please find another CPA firm. We are no longer working with you.” In summary, Allison’s group can handle basic CPA needs but lacks the professionalism and responsiveness given by more experienced CPA firms, especially in light of the fees her firm demands and the services they claim to offer. Paid for services often fell short of expectations and in general were extremely overpriced for the results delivered. I would not recommend Allison or her team for any small business CPA needs outside of basic business services such as record keeping or basic business filings.

I want to start by saying I’m not one to ever write a bad review on a small new local Business but I have to let others know our experience with am cpa so it don’t happen to you . We own a small business ourselves and our accountant of 10 years retired . We looked for a new one in sept 2023 and decided on am cpa. I was very clear what I wanted which was help with some quickbooks questions and help to clean it up after I catorgized all my transactions . After it was cleaned up I would be entering all transactions moving forward but need someone to answer questions as needed and do our annual tax return . They offered me to sign up on either a qt plan or a monthly plan . I talked with the owner Allison and she suggested the quarterly was best for me as I would be entering transactions my self. she stated she would have to collect a retainer and charge me hourly for the clean up plus pay my first qt payment. I was told I can’t ask questions unless I pay a head of time and start the qt plan so I did . Usually I pay for nothing without receive service first and now I know why . I paid two quarters and a 500 retainer with no work done at all. I got my quickbooks cleaned up by the deadline they said and provided all bank statement for the clean up to start . Now I was excited some work was going to be done ! We were also suppose to have a first meeting included in the plan around July august after qb was organized . Not even 48 hours after the hourly work started I get an email from Liz stating pay another 1,000 retainer , my 500 is gone and that I needed to sign up on either a qt plan or monthly plan .this is where it gets weird . I responded I am on a qt plan and paid the first two qts already . I then get an email with no explanation or answer to my question from Liz but simply said that I can use my qt payments paid to go to the hourly work but I’d have to pay another 300 still and then agree to sign up on a monthly plan starting in sept . I emailed back asking what the monthly plan cost and why was I being forced to switch half way through the agreement we all signed in Jan 24 for a qt plan. The difference in cost annually comes out to be about 9,000 . That’s a lot of money to demand someone to agree too with no explanation to why they can’t keep their original agreement or even an explanation to why they think that’s the better way for me. I got nothing .. I’m still so confused . I honestly feel almost as I was being bullied and was unliked and they wanted to push me out but needed me to get mad and disagree . It was such a strange encounter and we’ve been in business and deal with lots of different people for over 15 years now . This is a first ! so of course I said at this point enough is a enough and to please just refund my qt payments and stop all work on quickbooks . at this point I didn’t want to work with a company like this anymore . You also have to email Liz about 2-3 times in a weeks time to get a response. Communication’s is definitely lacking . I’m not doubting Chris did do 500 worth of quick books cleaning in 24 hours but I don’t see any of my questions fixed or addressed but I do understand I won’t see all the behind the scenes he may have reviewed. But I’m starting to feel I got ripped off there too . The end result and why I had to write a review is because I was told by Liz in the final email that since I do not want to switch from a 1500 a year plan to a 10,000 a year plan they are not going to refund any of the money I paid in for the qt plan we all agreed on and signed 6 months ago . I asked if the owner could contact me about this with an explanation of why I need to switch as I was clearly getting no Where with Liz . And Remember I had the option on plans until I told her I was already on a plan. They didn’t know I was on a plan I paid 700 In already ?? It’s been over a week now and I have not heard from anyone . I do not recommend this company and I feel like the bad customer service and communication will catch up with them in a matter of time .
