Favorite place in downtown Norfolk!!! Not only is it some of the absolute best food you’ve ever had, but the ATMOSPHERE!!! Nichole is the sweetest woman and so nice and welcoming and accommodating and Gabriel really takes it from a dinner out to an experience!! He always sits down with my family and chats with us and gives the warmest hugs!! It’s one of those places you can’t help but be a regular because you just want to be there. 1000000000/10. I’d give A million stars. If you’re considering it, go!!! Forgetaboutit Figata: my father loves this one, if you like charcuterie meats this is definitely a good one. Pasta: my brother asked for a pasta with red sauce and they whipped some up for him, it was delicious. Their red sauce is above and beyond so even dishes you may be used to like lasagna are still better than you’ve ever had. The Nichole: I ordered this one. Very good pastrami sandwich with homemade mustard (if you’re a mustard lover, this is the sandwich for You), And also au jus dip.
A perfect place. One of those gems where you know the food is made with love from a family. The owners were so warm and welcoming. They even have pictures of all the sandwiches. Each sandwich was perfect and so fresh. 1/4 of a sandwich was almost enough for two people. We will be back.
If you’re looking for a sign to try this restaurant, look no further!! Put this on your list for 2026 must-try spots! DELICIOUS & FRESH food, cozy atmosphere, and the most hospitable husband & wife (owners) duo! Shout out to the wife for managing several customers during early lunch service on her own! We tried the Caterina & Porchettina on their homemade focaccia. Watched as the meats & cheeses were sliced/cut fresh for each sandwich. The portions are HUGE and I could barely move after eating. The owner even treated us to a sweet little dessert to end our meal! Feels like you’re at home here, a quality that is scarce in the food industry nowadays. So excited to come back and try more of their food!! Thank you for a great meal ❤️
Great location! This was a 3 minute walk from the Scope. Our party of 4 was seated with no wait at 5 on a Saturday, which was unexpected and appreciated. By the time we left the space was filling up, so get there early. The quality of all the food we tried was fantastic. Portions were LARGE. Staff was friendly and helpful. The mini cannoli shells were crispy and light and perfect. Minor criticisms: in the menu it stated the Norfoccacia sandwich would have red onion on it, but it came with chunky white onion- thinly sliced red onion would've been way better. Also the tomato pieces on it were huge- it was like 2 halves of a roma tomato and I needed to take them off to cut them into smaller slices before eating. I'm not sure what happened there, because the tomatoes on my husband's sandwich were sliced normally 🤷 All in all, we look forward to coming back and trying other sandwiches, and getting focaccia to go!
This truly is a gem. I lived in Europe (Germany specifically) for about 18 years, and I’ve missed European food/Italian food since coming back to the US. This place is amazing! And very authentic. The atmosphere is peaceful and NOT rushed. Just like Europe. The owner was super friendly and the pasta he made (special of the day) was the best pasta I ever had. My husband had one of the sandwiches, and the bread was perfectly crunchy and light, and the flavors mouth watering. My husband and I both agree this sandwich was one of the best we both ever tasted in our lives. Everything was fresh and the quantity was perfect. We also had the pistachio ricotta cake. It was perfect. I forgot to take a photo because after trying the other food, not going to lie, I just wanted to dig in. Totally worth it, no regrets. It was very light and perfect desert after a meal that stuffs you. He then gave us an extra treat of a type of funnel cake. Again, it was perfect. I’ve been to many different restaurants all over the world and few would I rate as my top favorites. This one by far is the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to (including the ones I’ve been to in Europe.) and the ones their are amazing too, so to say this tops even those is amazing. So happy to have found this place and will definitely return with family, friends, and on anniversary’s. Also, a side note. We had our two year old with us, and the owner showed us some toys for her to enjoy so we could enjoy our date together. It was really nice, and she absolutely loved jt as well. 💕 cannot say enough good about this place! If you’re on fence about going, just go. This place has good food, peaceful atmosphere, and quality customer service.
