Outstanding!! I have spent my time in kitchens here and abroad. My wife and I enjoy the occasional first time thrill of finding a nearby, go to restaurant. The menu accounts for Chef Muroni’s Italian heritage and training while allowing the great plates of America the opportunity to shine at the hands of a superior kitchen staff. Pleasant from the host stand to exit…this very casual and relaxed atmosphere is simply comfy. Our mixed drinks were probably the best we’ve enjoyed since moving to the Chesapeake area and I have been a Hampton Roads resident for 20 years. A bit off the beaten path located next door to a marina and sharing space to accommodate larger banquet hall formal affairs. It’s location right on the water is pristine and I can’t wait for the Spring. Amazingly good value…treat yourself…you deserve this! We will definitely return!!
We had a delicious meal at Amber Lantern Restaurant. My husband and I each enjoyed pasta. Scrumptious mushroom and spinach tortellini for me, and a good lasagna for him. Salads were crisp and fresh. A nice wine selection by the glass. Kayla provided prompt and personable service. We spent the night on our boat at Top Rack Marina and were happy to have a good restaurant only a few steps away. Beautiful sunset views over the ICW.
Me and my brother in law ate here on August 28th. Neither of us had any prior knowledge of the restaurant. First impression from the parking lot was questionable, but everything after that was exemplary. We followed the signs to the entrance, up the elevator, and were greeted with a smile from the hostess. We chose to sit outside which was lovely. Our server (I believe her name was Molly) gave us the best service I've received from anywhere in quite some time. She was attentive when we needed her, and she didnt interrupt our conversations while we were enjoying our meal. Our drinks stayed filled and she was knowledgeable of everything we asked about on the menu. We shared the mussels gorgonzola from their specials menu, the portion was large, the sauce and toppings were abundant. I had the pork chops for my entrée, they were thin but moist and flavorful. The mango fig sauce it was served with was warm and sweet. It paired excellently with the pork. My brother had the crabcakes, he enjoyed them. Even the dinner rolls were delicious! The dessert menu was a good read, but I'm not too fond of cake, so I didn't get any dessert (I was too full anyways). I took some crab bisque home to my wife and she said it was great. It is so nice when a spontaneous choice of restaurant pays off. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular.
This restaurant is located in a beautiful spot. Absolutely romantic and fancy. My family and I were seated outside, which was mostly lovely. The waitress was initially rather attentive. After our food orders arrived, not so much. We waited a long time for her to come back so we could request certain condiments. Despite the beautiful backdrop there were just so many flies. We felt targeted and attacked by them. It was a race to finish our food before the flies did. I know that's largely beyond the restaurant's control but it would have been nice to have some citronella candles, dainty fans or just any measures in place to acknowledge the issue and show care for the patrons. The salmon was moist, the pork belly was delicious and the drinks were pretty good. All in all, I would recommend it to others.
Enjoy a wonderful meal and an amazing sunset. Second time dining here and I don’t have a single flaw to advise about. My wife and I decided to go for dinner at the last minute and even though we didn’t have reservations the staff was able to fit us in. Every item that we ordered came out cooked to perfection. The cocktails were amazing and well crafted. Unfortunately I forgot our servers name but she was on point.
