Our party had Isla's Drum a 59 ft Narrowboat for a 3 night break. We set off from Silsdon to our first night stop at Kildwick. We ate at The White Lion, the food & atmosphere were really good. Next morning we cruised to near Gargrave then back to Skipton to berth up for the night. It was very scenic & we all had so much fun, We worked as a team & enjoyed a drink in the evening. Next day we cruised back to Silsdon. The friendly Silsdon team Mark, Adrian & staff were all very friendly & helpful
Amazing holiday start to finish 👏 from walking in clean, tidy yard and good signage. To helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff, who couldn't do enough for you. We're experienced boaters, having our own cruiser for 7 yrs, visited norfolk broads 6 times and narrow boated before. So hired John Drum our first widebeam, like a home on water, warm, comfy, spotless, good size shower and bathroom facilities. Fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans and so much more, microwave and full oven/cooker. Sofa bed and 2 armchairs. 2 double beds with lovely mattresses - could walk right round, luxury in a boat 🤣. Even in a morning when only 3 degrees outside, central heating kept us snug. Would say boat not for inexperienced sailer and recommend 4 people, so two operating swing bridges and two on boat. But highly recommend boat, yard and staff.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff with boat prepared and waiting - good advice due to the current restrictions and helpful in getting to know the boat. Prepared when we returned the boat with no problems.
We recently had the pleasure of hiring Gwen’s Drum from Silsden Boats. The boat was lovely and really well prepared for us with everything we could need. Our initial greeting and introduction to our boat by Adrian was very welcoming and he was very thorough in showing us all of the controls etc. He accompanied us as we left the mooring until we got to the first swing bridge where again he took us through this. We felt well prepared for our week ahead. We had our two westies with us and they had a ball and it makes a real difference to us to be able to bring our girls with us. I cannot recommend this company and their boats highly enough and we hope to be back soon.
We recently had the pleasure of renting the canal boat "Drum Beat" from Silsden Boats for a wonderful Monday to Friday getaway, and I can't recommend this experience highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Their friendliness and willingness to help were outstanding. They went above and beyond to provide us with invaluable advice—teaching us not only about the boat's operation but also sharing fascinating insights about the local area. Their patience and expertise made the learning process enjoyable and stress-free, ensuring we were ready to embark on our adventure. We arrived early, which allowed us to do some food shopping before setting sail, and we were pleased to find that the boat was ready right on schedule. "Drum Beat" was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our week was filled with excitement as we navigated through the breathtaking scenery, including the iconic 5 Rise Locks and the Bingley 3 Locks, before making our way to the charming village of Saltaire. The experience was not just about relaxation; it was an opportunity for my teens to actively participate. They loved assisting with the bridges and locks, and even took turns steering the boat! Watching them engage with the journey truly made the trip special for our family. Overall, our experience with Silsden Boats was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of beautiful landscapes, engaging activities, and top-notch service created memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.
