We booked and paid $2,236 for a boat hire on the vessel Neptune, arranged through the charter consultant Kara, to celebrate a friend’s birthday weekend. Multiple people travelled specifically for this event. Unfortunately, the charter could not go ahead due to weather conditions, which we understand is outside anyone’s control. What is within the company’s control is how this situation is handled. Because the service was not provided at all, and because the booking is weather-dependent, Australian Consumer Law states that a refund should be issued when a service cannot be delivered. We clearly explained to Kara that postponing was not possible due to travel arrangements and the time-specific nature of the birthday celebration. Despite this, a refund has not been offered. Instead, we were only offered a phone call to discuss alternative dates, which is not a solution for us. Offering other dates does not change the fact that the service we paid for was never delivered. Communication has been extremely disappointing given the amount of money involved. At this stage, we are out of pocket over $2,000, with no service provided and no refund issued. I would strongly caution others booking this company, particularly the vessel Neptune, to be very clear on their refund practices if weather prevents the charter from going ahead.

From the moment we got on, the crew were legends. Super friendly, the captain Luke even came and introduced himself. The position we had for the fireworks was unbeatable. Only a handful of boats allowed in that area. We were so lucky! Food and drinks were also a standout. Plenty of options, really good quality, and everything was flowing all night without long waits. Tick that off the bucket list! Awesome night!

⭐️ 2-Star Review: Disappointing NYE Experience with Any Boat & Galene We paid $1500 AUD for two tickets on the Galene through Any Boat for the Sydney NYE 2025–26 cruise. For that price, we expected a smooth, well‑organised experience. Unfortunately, it fell far short. Booking & Communication Issues We booked and paid by mid‑2025 and received an invoice stating that Any Boat would contact us 2–3 weeks before NYE with final details. That email never came. We ended up calling them on 30 December, only to be told they had “upgraded to a new system.” It took them a couple of hours just to locate our booking and confirm the wharf details. This should have been proactive communication from their side — instead, we had to chase them, which didn’t feel good at all. Chaos at the Wharf On NYE, King Street Wharf was packed with crowds boarding various cruises. Our scheduled boarding time came and went, yet there wasn’t a single Any Boat representative in sight. Other cruises had multiple staff directing passengers; Any Boat had none. We eventually found other confused passengers and formed a group to figure things out ourselves. To make matters worse, the Galene arrived late, and the wharf number in our email didn’t match the number displayed on the wharf screens. The lack of staff to clarify this caused unnecessary stress and confusion. Onboard Seating & Capacity Problems Because the boat arrived late and boarding was disorganised, we ended up on the lower deck, as all upper‑deck seats were already taken. Once onboard, a crew member informed us that the upper deck only holds 35 people, despite the cruise having around 90 passengers. This meant many people were forced to watch the fireworks through dirty lower‑deck windows. Arguments broke out as crew restricted access to the upper deck. Some passengers had to watch the 9pm fireworks from terrible vantage points. Ppl with kids and babies were particularly impacted We were later told the captain would open the front viewing area for the midnight fireworks, but by then the experience had already been soured. Standing for Hours & Constant Stress We eventually made it to the upper deck but had to stand for hours because all seats were taken. Every time we needed a drink or a bathroom break, we were anxious about whether we’d be allowed back up due to the strict 35‑person limit. For a NYE cruise, this level of stress and uncertainty is unacceptable. Quality of the Boat Compared to other cruises around us — which had buffets, DJs, and modern glass viewing areas — the Galene felt old, dingy, and not fit for a premium NYE experience. The One Positive The staff member serving finger food was genuinely lovely and did a great job. That’s the only reason this isn’t a 1‑star review. Final Verdict I do not recommend Any Boat or the Galene for NYE cruise They advertise a 90‑person capacity but fail to mention that the upper deck — fits just 35. This turns the entire night into a Hunger Games‑style scramble for top deck spots, even though everyone pays the same price. For top dollar we expected professionalism, organisation, and a comfortable viewing experience. Instead, we got confusion, stress, and poor management from start to finish.

The team at AnyBoat were exceptional. We recently hired a boat with AnyBoat for our wedding engagement. We worked with Edwin who was an absolute legend! Through all the planning and last minute changes, nothing was too much trouble. He want above and beyond! Couldn't ask for a better bloke to coordinate all of it. Jason our skipper was a true gentleman. We really enjoyed our cruise with Jason at the helm. He was lovely to chat with and made the whole experience feel like a Sunday cruise with a mate. We had an absolutely amazing time on the speedboat sunset cruise! The whole experience was breathtaking — from the stunning views to the smooth, comfortable ride. The atmosphere was relaxed yet exciting, and watching the sun set over the water was pure magic with the Opera house in the background A special shoutout to our skipper Luca, who was fantastic from start to finish. He was friendly, professional, and clearly experienced, while keeping the vibe fun and enjoyable. His knowledge of the area and attention to detail, from music being played to Champaign being poured. Highly recommend AnyBoat! La Dolce Vita was a beautiful classy speedboat and we highly recommend her for your next speedboat cruise. Highly recommend this cruise to anyone looking for a memorable and scenic adventure — it was the highlight of our date! 🌅🚤
