Excellent studio with a welcoming and supportive community. I've participated in a couple of life drawing sessions (both short pose and long pose), and each time has been great! If you're hesitant about joining, don't be—everyone in the studio is warm and friendly, and you'll meet a variety of artists there working in different mediums (pencils, paints, and more) and at various levels of expertise, from beginner to professional! It's fun to chat with other artists during breaks in these sessions, and you can learn a lot while working alongside them. Additionally, the studio offers a rotation of classes and workshops during spring, summer, and fall. I took one just to try it out, and I kept coming back for more. The studio leans mostly towards figurative drawing/painting, but there are plenty of artists there (plus classes and workshops) that focus on other topics. I definitely recommend checking this studio out if you're an artist who wants to learn and connect with other artists in the community!

Are you an apsiring artist in Madison? If you want to improve your drawing skills in wonderful company and while getting good feedback from an incredibly skilled and experienced artist and instructor, then this place is for you! I took my first class with Philip Salamone at the UW continuing education program seven years ago, and became a regular here three years ago, and my art skills have grown by leaps and bounds!
