I went to this store. I was welcomed by a person sitting there fixing a gear. I asked him how much it would cost to fix my car and when I could pick it up. He responded to me very rudely And he told me, “I’m working, I can’t talk. He was a very terrible person
I brought my car in to have Terry do a transmission replacement. We had an issue with the first trans because it was broken the vendor replaced it then I was told that the starter was too big. Terry being the mechanic suggested I find the starter that would work versus him giving a solution other than rebuilding the trans. My car sat at the shop because I felt it’s the mechanics job to figure out what starter would work. I had to consult with another mechanic that confirmed Terry was just giving me the run around and didn’t want to do the work and the starter would have been easy to locate. I had my wife go to AAA CRAINS transmission and they verified my trans would work and that he didn’t need the vin of the car it came from he was just being lazy. He ended up being rude with no solution which resulted in me paying 1587 and me towing my car home. I advise against working with him unless you do your research yourself he will not do the research needed to fix your car.
Terry and his team have done a fantastic job for me and my extended family. We have had a total of 5 transmissions rebuilt at his shop and have not had a single problem with any of the work he has done. Terry is so personable and does such a great job getting the work done when it is scheduled to be complete. As far as I am concerned ATW is the only choice to have transmission work done.
I highly advise against using Terry’s services. My experience with him was frustrating and costly, and I want to warn others to avoid the same situation. When my transmission failed, Terry recommended a vendor he trusted for the necessary parts. In good faith, I purchased the transmission from this vendor, but the most crucial part—the Transmission Control Module (TCM)—was missing. Terry chose to install the transmission without the TCM, which complicated everything from there on. He assured me the vendor would send the correct module but required the first transmission to be returned. Terry, however, refused to uninstall the transmission unless he gets paid. That is what the vendor told me, essentially holding my car hostage. Since I couldn’t afford to have the transmission removed at the time, I was stuck. Despite Terry’s guarantee, I was forced to communicate directly with the vendor to resolve the situation. The vendor insisted that the first transmission needed to be returned before they could send the replacement. Meanwhile, Terry avoided all communication with the vendor, stating that he needed to "protect himself." He continually asked for updates, but neither he nor the vendor took responsibility, and I was left without my car for two months. After much back-and-forth, I finally got my money refunded by the vendor, but I still had no module. Desperate to get my car working, I purchased a new TCM and had Terry install it. Yet, my car still had issues. At this point, Terry told me that the TCM had to be programmed—a service he couldn’t provide. This was infuriating. After all the trouble I went through, he knew from the start that he couldn’t program the part, yet he still took my car in and let the situation escalate. Instead of guiding me through the process, Terry sent me to an unreliable vendor, prematurely installed parts, took no responsibility, mishandled communication, and kept my car for two months. What makes this worse is Terry’s refusal to take any accountability. He claimed he kept the transmission installed to protect me, but it felt more like he was holding it as leverage to get paid. An experienced mechanic should have waited for both the transmission and the module before proceeding with the installation, not doing the work prematurely and making matters worse. This was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. Please save yourself the frustration and seek repairs elsewhere.
IF YOU HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS GO HERE - Great shop that will fix you up right and honestly! Terry is knowledgeable, hardworking, and straightforward. He truly is a car doctor and my 1993 Ford F-150 drives like a dream because of his work! I found this lil shop on a Yelp search (good reviews) and I've been a repeat happy customer. I broke down (like, engine smoking, y'all) on Wednesday and I knew exactly where to go. Terry got me back driving my baby by Thursday afternoon, running better than ever and not at a huge wallet hit. I bought my '93 several months ago and it's been an adventure to restore but Terry has been encouraging and realistic through it all. You can tell he has a true passion for autos. I've had master cylinder, clutch, water pump, thermostat, coolant, transmission belt, and radiator work done here.
